1993 Ford F150 XLT Lariat 4x2 Supercab Short Bed Pickup
"Over the years, Ford gained a lot of expertise in building tough,
durable, dependable trucks. Today's Ford full sized pickups are
more stylish, more comfortable, more powerful; but they are still
tough and dependable. And of all the pickups sold over the last 15
years, there are more Ford full sized pickups still on the road
than any other make." A 1993 Ford truck commercial.
For consignment, a 1993 Ford F150 XLT Lariat 4x2 supercab short bed
pickup truck with a title verified 117,608 actual miles. This is a
one owner, garage kept example that, according to our consignor,
has never seen snow!
Exterior
This great looking truck begins with Wild Strawberry Metallic
paint, a dark red that rides over a band of Medium Platinum
Metallic that flows over the rocker panels and side steps, creating
a classic two tone configuration. Classic, even as '93 seems like
yesterday for some of us! Tasteful trim reaches its peak on the
tailgate, where a brushed aluminum panel is sandwiched by red and
is bisected by a black band and the Ford nameplate. Riveted 15-inch
wheels carry 235/75R15 tires with an early 2022 date code for your
driving pleasure. The sliding rear window looks over a black vinyl
tonneau that neatly covers the bed, itself in great condition with
a rubber floor liner. Imperfections are few on this pampered pickup
with some touched up chips, untouched chips, inclusions, and some
minor scuffs.
Interior
It's red on red for this rig, beginning with molded Scarlet Red
door panels with cloth inserts and both look remarkable for their
age. Two tone cloth covers the front split bench and compact rear
bench and both are in great shape. The time capsule status
continues up front where the black steering wheel looks barely used
and fronts a simple instrument cluster and indicator light panel
backed in black plastic on a red dashboard. Accessible by all front
riders, an AM/FM/Cassette radio and A/C panel live in the center
while the open floor, including the transmission tunnel, are
covered in low pile red carpet and vintage style rubber mats. Not
enough red for you? Look up. The cloth headliner and visors are red
and more importantly, in impeccable condition. How many miles are
on this truck? It's quite the anomaly!
Drivetrain
Even the engine bay belies the mileage as the 5.0 liter sits
cleanly in the bay, fuel injected and pumping out 185 horsepower.
It's mated to the AOD 4-speed automatic transmission that routes
power to the rear 8.8" axle with 3.55 gears.
Undercarriage
Age induced metal oxidation, surface rust, and some oil film are
found on the otherwise clean and solid undercarriage where a single
exhaust flows through a stock style muffler and power brakes are
split with front disc and rear drum. Suspension includes radius
arms and coil springs up front and leaf springs in back. Did we
mention the Yosemite Sam mud flaps outback? They're here too, in
classic fashion.
Drive-Ability
There's no denying this well kept truck performs as nice as it
appears, providing plenty of power, tracking straight, and
providing a tall ride that instills confidence when the road gets
rough. All functions on this F150 operate as intended. While
Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at
the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions
will be working at the time of your purchase.
If a big red pickup truck is not on your wishlist, please check
your car guy card at the door. For families with kids and dogs,
here's a nice ride with a bit of extra space behind the front seats
and when little Jimmy gets too big for the rear bench, hand him the
keys of this classic and capable Ford F150 and keep it in the
family.
