Among the many performance cars to emerge from the muscle car era,
few have achieved the lasting recognition and enthusiast following
of the 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1. Introduced as Ford's premium
performance Mustang, the Mach 1 combined aggressive styling,
impressive performance, and a long list of desirable features that
helped make it one of the most successful Mustang models of its
time. Offered here is an exceptionally well-restored example
finished in its factory Code C5 Black Jade paint and retaining its
matching-numbers M-Code 351 cubic-inch Windsor V8 and factory FMX
Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission.
Built on June 5, 1969, at Ford's Metuchen Assembly Plant, this Mach
1 was sold new through J.P. Revels Ford Co. in Green Cove Springs,
Florida. Accompanying the car is a Marti Report documenting its
factory specifications, along with restoration receipts that help
tell the story of the extensive work performed. The result is a
Mustang that presents at a level that will satisfy even discerning
collectors while remaining an outstanding car to drive and
enjoy.
The factory Black Jade finish is one of the more distinctive
Mustang colors offered in 1969 and provides the perfect backdrop
for the Mach 1's aggressive styling package. The iconic blackout
hood treatment, factory hood scoop with 351 callouts, and sleek
SportsRoof body style create one of the most recognizable profiles
of the muscle car era. Sitting on factory-style 14-inch Styled
Chrome Steel wheels wrapped in brand-new BFGoodrich Radial T/A
tires, the car has an authentic appearance that perfectly captures
the look Ford intended. Underneath, the floors and undercarriage
have been finished in correct red oxide, further demonstrating the
attention to detail that was invested during the restoration.
Inside, the factory White Clarion Knit Vinyl Mach 1 interior
provides a striking contrast to the dark exterior finish. The cabin
is beautifully restored and features the factory center console
with T-handle shifter, one of the signature interior features of
the Mach 1 package. Tinted glass, factory air conditioning, and a
RetroRadio discreetly integrated in place of the original AM radio
provide comfort and convenience while maintaining the car's
period-correct appearance. The factory air conditioning system is
fully functional and blows cold, making this Mach 1 especially
enjoyable during warm-weather cruising.
Under the hood, the matching-numbers M-Code 351 Windsor V8 remains
the heart of the car. Equipped with a Holley four-barrel carburetor
and breathing through a dual exhaust system, the engine delivers
the strong performance and unmistakable sound enthusiasts expect
from a classic Mustang. The engine bay has been restored to a very
high standard and features correct Ford Blue finishes,
factory-style exhaust manifolds, and a factory-style radiator. The
attention to detail throughout the engine compartment reflects the
no-expense-spared approach taken during the restoration.
Mechanically, the car benefits from recent shocks, a recent fuel
tank, and recent fuel lines, helping ensure dependable operation.
Power is delivered through the factory FMX automatic transmission
to a Ford 9-inch rear end equipped with the factory 3.00 axle
ratio, providing excellent road manners for both local cruising and
highway driving. The car starts easily, runs strong, and drives
exceptionally well, making it every bit as enjoyable on the road as
it is on display.
Finding a genuine M-Code Mach 1 with its matching-numbers
drivetrain, desirable factory colors, documented history, and
restoration completed to this level is becoming increasingly
difficult. The included Marti Report and restoration receipts add
confidence and provenance to an already impressive package. Aside
from a minor stone chip in the windshield, this Mustang presents
beautifully throughout and reflects the care and investment it has
received.
Combining iconic Mach 1 styling, factory Black Jade paint, a
matching-numbers M-Code 351 Windsor V8, cold air conditioning,
documented history, and show-quality presentation, this 1969 Ford
Mustang Mach 1 represents an outstanding opportunity to acquire one
of the most desirable Mustangs of the era. It is a car that is
equally at home on the show field, at local cruise nights, or out
on the open road where it can be enjoyed exactly as Ford
intended.
