"When Ford redesigned their Mustang a couple of years ago, some
criticized the retro styling, saying the automaker didn't employ a
fresh, contemporary approach. I applauded the retro themed, ninth
generation Mustang for both its styling and its substance. And I'm
not the only one fond of the new Mustang. Ford's Mustang has
remained popular for more than 40 years. It's the only pony car
from the 1960s to have lived on without an interruption of
production." Drivechicago.com
For consignment, a 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT couple with a title
verified 17,635 actual miles. Only 5,651 Shelby GT's were produced
in 2007 with 2,266 of them white and the remaining 3,385 black.
Exterior
Black paint is accented with almost imperceptible stripes, here in
Mineral Gray and like ribbons on a birthday present, these stripes
start on the front bumper, run over the Super Snake-like hood,
continue over the roof, then down the decklid, spilling on the rear
fascia and lower valance to frame the license plate. There are also
rocker stripes here appearing and disappearing like a ghost in
certain light. No big wing, no extra vents, this one presents with
more subtlety than your average Shelby Mustang, lurking just under
the radar but whizzing by in a badass black blur. Staggered sized
wheels, 19-inch in front and 20-inch in back, carry ZR rated tires
and a billet style upper and lower grille change up the fascia a
bit. Imperfections are few and include a scratch and crack in the
paint on the hood, a few chips on the door, and some typical chin
scrapes.
Interior
Black leather comes together to make up the upholstery for the
front buckets and rear 2 plus 2 seats, with tuck and roll inserts
and smooth bolsters adorn the seats and all four are in great
shape. The door panels are basic black with some typical waviness
to the leather insert on the passenger side. A very simple dash
houses another queue from days past in the form of the dual
circular embedded instruments and for extra flair, some of the vent
housing has been reappropriated for gauges. The center stack
includes a touchscreen, AM/FM/6 CD player, AC, and traction
control, all standard for your convenience and listening pleasure.
Between the twin vents housing is the coveted numbered Shelby plate
stamped with the man's signature. A ball handled black shifter sits
in a center console over nice black carpeting covering the floors
and below the foam backed charcoal headliner in just about pristine
condition. The trunk is clean and finished with gray flannel clad
panels.
Drivetrain
Some snaking air piping highlights a clean engine bay where the 4.6
liter 3 valve V8 lurks, connected to Procharger P-1SC-1
supercharger and packing NSR Stage 1 cams. It's mated to a Tremec
3650 5-speed manual transmission routing power to the Ford 8.8" in
back with 3.55 gears and TracLoc. Headers are on board for a few
more potential ponies.
Undercarriage
Clean underneath with some typical component surface rust but dry
conditions all around. Here, the dual exhaust meets an X-pipe after
the high flow cats and find their way to the original mufflers and
big chrome tips. Power disc brakes are at all four corners and
suspension consists of Macpherson struts up front with a 3 link,
coil springs, and a panhard bar in back.
Drive-Ability
A glorious thundering exhaust is emitted with a touch of the
throttle and we roll this very capable GT onto the test loop where
it exhibits good power, great road holding abilities, and an all
around nice driving experience for the enthusiast in all of us! We
note the power mirrors are not working but all other functions
operate as they should on this high performer. While Classic Auto
Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of
our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working
at the time of your purchase.
You can't call this one a sleeper, but it is a stealthy looking
beast hunkering down on big wheels and leading with an aggressive
hood. It has the Shelby stripes but they are barely visible which
may help you fly under the radar a bit, but the addictive throttle
can still get you in trouble so mind your right foot around town in
this beautiful ride!
