*1989 Alfa-Romeo Spider Quadrifoglio*The Alfa Romeo Spider is an
iconic sports car, with a production run spanning nearly 30 years.
Each of the car's four generations had their benefits, and the
third generation, built between 1983 and 1989 is the most
recognizable to North American enthusiasts. This Spider is a 1989
model, coming from the final year of the third generation, and is
the sought after Quadrifoglio trim.Under the care of a single local
owner since 1992, this Alfa Red Spider Quadrifoglio has been kept
in remarkable condition and shows 76,600 miles at the time of
cataloging. This third generation Spider benefits from some unique
features including a factory removable hard top, and a luggage rack
on the rear decklid. To give the car a bit more vintage flare, a
set of 15-inch Vicks Auto Sports Superlite wheels have been fitted,
which pair well with the Quadrifoglio's bespoke side skirts, and
front and rear spoilers. The interior is beautifully simple, with a
pair of grey leather bucket seats, paired to red contrasting
carpet, for some proper Italian style. Drop into the driver's seat
and you're met by a 3-spoke wood rimmed steering wheel, which is
smaller in diameter than the included original, and matches the
shift knob perfectly. One of the more unique pieces of the Alfa
Spider interior is its shifter placement - coming out of the
dashboard. Although odd looking, it is a fantastic place for the
shifter, as you don't have to move your hand very far from the
steering wheel, and the shift pattern becomes instinctive quickly.
These later third generation Spiders also feature a more modern
gauge cluster with white-on-black Jaeger instruments laid out
plainly in front of the driver.Under the hood sits a 2.0-liter dual
overhead cam inline-4 that produces 115 horsepower and 119 lb-ft of
torque. This is a further refined variant of the inline-4 that
dates back to the 1950s and was used in many of Alfa's most iconic
cars from history, but unlike many of the classics that ran on
either carburetors, this Spider uses a Bosch L-Jetronic fuel
injection system. Power is then sent to the rear wheels via a
5-speed manual gearbox. Even in more highly equipped Quadrifoglio
form, the Alfa Spider still weighed less than 2,500 lbs which makes
it an absolute joy to toss around on your favorite back
road.Finding a nice Spider is getting harder by the year - and
coming across one with nearly 35 years of single family ownership
is even more remarkable. This example presents in fantastic
condition, with a few small upgrades to improve the looks and feel
behind the wheel, without largely changing what the car is. With
summer upon is, it's hard to beat a top-down Italian driving
experience and this is a car you can enjoy all summer long.*Key
