--Dark Red with a Saddle Leather interior, 5.7 Liter Twin
Turbocharger and intercooled V8 engine paired to a 4+3 Manual
gearbox. 14,000 miles and collector ownership from new. This
corvette is exceptional throughout and comes with a large history
file. In the mid-1980s, General Motors sought a weapon to
elevate the fourth-generation Corvette into the upper echelons of
the global supercar market. Rather than managing the development
strictly in-house, Corvette Chief Engineer Dave McLellan authorized
a legendary collaboration with Reeves Callaway's engineering firm
in Old Lyme, Connecticut. The result was Regular Production Option
(RPO) B2K, marking the first and only time in Chevrolet's history
that a specialist manufacturer was entrusted with a
factory-ordered, factory-warranted powertrain upgrade.Standard
Corvettes were shipped directly from the Bowling Green assembly
plant to Callaway Engineering. There, the 5.7-liter V8 engines were
disassembled and remanufactured using stouter componentry. Callaway
added a forged crankshaft, four-bolt main bearing caps, sturdier
connecting rods, and low-compression Cosworth or Mahle pistons. Fed
by twin Warner-Ishi or Rotomaster turbochargers and dual
intercoolers, output jumped to a monumental 345 horsepower and 465
lb-ft of torquepropelling the Corvette past contemporary supercars
from Stuttgart and Maranello for a fraction of their cost. This
particular B2K Twin Turbo is finished in an aggressive,
period-correct Black. The 1987 models retained the beautifully
clean, iconic wedge lines of the early C4 chassis. The exterior
hints at its exceptional performance via subtle, elegant markers: a
pair of functional, integrated NACA hood ducts designed to feed the
twin intercoolers, a discrete "Callaway Twin Turbo" badge on the
rear fascia. This particular corvette benefits from lightweight BBS
wheels. The paintwork remains in excellent condition throughout. The
cabin is swathed in Tan leather with matching carpets. It features
the highly bolstered, factory dual power sport seats and the iconic
1980s digital liquid-crystal instrument cluster. Everything inside
remains exceptionally well-preserved and authentic to its era. The
interior serves as a time-capsule of late-80s American performance
luxury.Mechanically, this Callaway Corvette has been meticulously
maintained and remains in superb operating condition. The
twin-turbocharged power plant delivers a visceral surge of boost,
channeling its power through the heavy-duty Doug Nash "4+3" manual
overdrive transmission. This vehicle comes accompanied by an
extensive, highly structured history file. It includes the original
factory documentation, historical service invoices, and unique
Callaway literature confirming its assembly numbers and
authenticity. It is ready for immediate enjoyment on the open road
or your local cars and coffee.
