Not a clone. Never a clone. Ruffian cars has established not only a
name for itself in the custom car world, but a genuine identity.
Never making two of the same. Ruffian Cars uses unmitigated
imagination as design inspiration and painstaking attention to
detail to be the signature of every build.
The FIA Fastback is a beautiful blend of the two cars every owner
wishes they "would have kept", the Shelby Cobra and the Fastback
Mustang. This amazing blend began life as a 1967 Fastback with an
incredibly clean body.
As stated, this build was design first with a dash of engineering
and plenty of fabrication. 3" flares were needed to fit the Cobra
289 FIA competition wheels. The firewall was modified to move the
engine further back. The nose was dropped similar to the 69 and 70
trans am cars to increase aerodynamics. The shock tower braces and
cowl were reinforced to reduce effects of added chassis flex from
the increased power, traction, and aero.
A 6 point roll cage and bead welded fuel tank cover add safety to
the street purposed FIA Fastback Mustang. The design of the roll
cage allowed the ability to add "speed holes" or gussets to reduce
weight and beveled to add strength. A 20 Gallon Fuel Safe Fuel Cell
with a fabricated fuel cell support frame blends safety and
usability.
The heartbeat of this Fastback is a Shelby Engine Company 364 Crate
Engine. An Aluminum 289 Shelby Block punched out to 364 Cubic
Inches and topped with Webers, making 500HP and mated to a Tremec 5
Speed Manual Transmission. It's the perfect drivetrain for a 289
FIA Cobra. So why not the FIA Fastback?
This 1967 Ford Mustang FIA Fastback could possibly be the finest
Mustang ever imagined, ever built, ever owned. Available for
$599,950.
