6.2L V8 • 6-Speed Automatic • 5th Gen Camaro IRS • Camaro SS 1LE
Brakes • Custom Interior
Collectible Motorcar of Atlanta is proud to offer this 1988
Chevrolet C1500, finished in bright red over a custom black and red
interior. This regular-cab short-bed has the clean OBS look
everyone wants, but underneath it has been heavily modernized with
Camaro-based performance hardware, upgraded braking, custom
suspension, and a late-model drivetrain package.
Power comes from a 6.2L V8 sourced from a 2014 Camaro donor and
paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The engine bay has a
clean, modern presentation with Camaro engine covers, a custom
intake setup, upgraded wiring, and a detailed overall layout that
makes this truck feel far more current than a factory 1988 C1500.
The result is a classic Chevy pickup with modern power, smooth
drivability, and the kind of performance that completely changes
the personality of the truck.
One of the biggest highlights of this build is the 5th-generation
Camaro independent rear suspension conversion. This gives the truck
a much more planted, performance-oriented feel compared to the
original solid-axle setup. Out back, the truck is also equipped
with rear coilovers, adding improved control and adjustability. The
stance is low, aggressive, and purposeful, sitting over black
modern split-spoke wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza tires.
Braking has also been seriously upgraded with Camaro SS 1LE
four-wheel disc brakes, including large drilled and slotted rotors
with red calipers. This is a major performance improvement and
gives the truck the stopping power to match the upgraded drivetrain
and suspension. The combination of the 6.2L V8, 6-speed automatic,
Camaro IRS, rear coilovers, and 1LE brake package makes this C1500
much more than a cosmetic build.
The exterior presents beautifully in bright red with a smooth,
clean look. Up front, the truck features updated LED headlights and
lower lighting, a color-matched grille, black bowtie emblem,
color-matched front bumper, and a low street-truck stance. The rear
features a bedliner, roll-up bed cover, and dual exhaust exiting
neatly below the rear bumper. The overall appearance is sharp,
modern, and aggressive while still keeping the classic OBS body
lines intact.
Inside, the cabin has been updated with a custom black bench seat
featuring red stitching and red seat belts, tying the interior
nicely into the exterior color. The dash has been upgraded with
modern red-backlit gauges, a custom push-button start panel, air
pressure display, digital climate controls, Kenwood audio, and a
digital rearview mirror with camera display. The black and red
theme gives the interior a finished, performance-inspired look
without taking away from the truck's classic character.
This 1988 Chevrolet C1500 currently shows 3,672 miles and
represents a well-executed restomod with the right mix of classic
OBS style and modern Camaro performance. With its 6.2L V8, 6-speed
automatic transmission, independent rear suspension, upgraded 1LE
brakes, custom interior, and aggressive stance, this is a truck
built to stand out anywhere it goes.
