INTRODUCTION: PHS documented, #s matching, factory colors, factory
4-speed car, upgraded with a correct tri-power. It underwent a body
off frame, rotisserie restoration. California built car and that's
where it spent most of its life. The 64 GTO, the car that started
it all!
EXTERIOR: The quality of this car really stands out. The paint is
over 15 years old, yet it looks like it was applied yesterday,
which says a lot about the quality of the restoration and the care
it has received since. Being a Western car, it has enjoyed a clean
life, and it shows. The body panels are exceptionally straight with
no visible rust, damage, or bubbling, and the fit and finish
throughout are excellent. Repainted in its factory Grenadier Red,
the finish is polished to a smooth, high gloss shine that
beautifully highlights the car's elegant lines. The chrome
sparkles, the stainless trim has been polished, and the emblems and
weatherstrips have been replaced. The bright white power
convertible top provides a striking contrast to the red paint, and
the windshield has been replaced for a fresh, clear appearance.
Details enthusiasts appreciate are all here, including correct T3
headlamps and the rare remote-operated fender-mounted mirror.
Completing the look are beautifully polished spinner wheel covers
wrapped in BFGoodrich radial tires.
INTERIOR: Check out this factory red interior- it looks as fresh as
the day it left the showroom. The bright red carpet is accented by
optional seat belts and reproduction floor mats. The center console
looks like new, and the best part is the 4-speed shifter rising
from it, reminding you this Camaro was built to be driven. The
seats have been recushioned and reupholstered, while the door
panels, armrests, window cranks, and handles have all been
replaced. The painted metal trim is finished beautifully, giving
the interior a crisp, factory fresh appearance throughout. The
instrument panel presents exceptionally well, including the
original AM radio. Even the details have been addressed, right down
to the new sun visors complete with a Pontiac vanity mirror.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: When people ask, "Is there a Tri-Power under
the hood?" the answer is a resounding yes! This is the #s-matching
389 with the correct casting numbers, proper date codes, the 78X
stamping on the front of the block, and the correct heads. Topping
it off is a correct Tri-Power induction system. When you put your
foot to the floor, you'll know it's there- you'll hear it, you'll
feel it, and you'll understand why Tri-Power Pontiacs are
legendary. The entire engine compartment has been restored to a
factory fresh appearance. Everything looks proper, clean, and
meticulously finished. It is equipped with power steering and power
brakes, and all the details have been attended to, including spring
clamp battery cables, reproduction hose clamps, hooked up
windshield washers, hood insulation, and the factory dust shields
over the suspension. The metal surfaces are painted and detailed
beautifully throughout. This is the kind of engine compartment that
impresses enthusiasts and judges alike, combining authenticity,
performance, and outstanding presentation.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Open the trunk and you'll find the same
attention to detail carried throughout the car. The beautiful gloss
Grenadier Red paint covers everything from the underside of the
trunk lid and jambs to the solid metal inside the trunk itself.
It's clean, detailed, and presents just as well as the rest of the
car. The trunk is complete with its jack and spare tire assembly,
along with a matching trunk mat, spare tire cover, and a storage
bag for the jack.
UNDERSIDE: Wow, is it nice underneath this GTO! The floors are
absolutely smooth, dry, clean metal- you can tell it lived out
west. The body was off the frame, flipped on a rotisserie, then
prepped and painted in a smooth semi-gloss finish. Steering,
suspension, and brakes were all rebuilt at that time, and it was
upgraded with gas shocks in back. It also has an upgraded exhaust
system with an X-pipe, Flowmaster mufflers and the optional
splitter tips. The fuel system was replaced, including the tank.
Looking up at the motor, it's clean, has a high torque starter and
is backed by the correct Muncie 4-speed transmission. In back is a
3.55 posi rear end.
SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and our reputation. Every
vehicle goes through our service department where it is inspected,
test driven, and we address the essentials before offering it for
sale.
CONCLUSION: This GTO is truly exceptional! The nut and bolt, body
off frame restoration speaks for itself, but it's when you see the
car in person that you'll fully appreciate the quality, detail, and
craftsmanship that went into it. Combined with its outstanding
colors and desirable options, this is the kind of GTO collectors
dream about owning. It's a rare opportunity to acquire one of the
finest examples of Pontiac's legendary muscle car.
