For Sale: 1964 Plymouth Valiant in Hackettstown, New Jersey

1964 Plymouth Valiant Signet 200 convertible, 2-door, push-button automatic, slant-six engine, currently housed in Hackettstown, NJ, USA.  Original owner’s daughter has a clean Title in hand.  Rebuilt engine has approximately 90,000 miles on it. Tens of thousands invested so far into its structural foundation, rewiring and a host of things as listed below. Current restoration has been slowly underway for a decade in preparation for shipping to Switzerland where very strict rules apply for antique cars. Increased costs have made continued project untenable for the owner. Despite its deep sentimental value to the owner it has been decided to put the car up for sale in the hopes of finding a sympathetic buyer that will take its restoration to completion and enjoy the continuation of its long life.

A sampling of the myriad of repairs that have been made:

• Welding of all areas of rust and rot, degreasing, priming, painting block, manifold
• Weld all convertible piston towers
• Clean up front-end wheel wells, clean, prep, degrease, prime, undercoat and paint all motor bay areas…
• Removed entire wiring harnesses, rewired entire car from front to rear with new replacement harnesses
• Carburetor rebuild kit
• Upper & lower radiator hoses
• New water pump and all related gaskets
• Fuel pump, fuel lines (stainless steel)
• Gas tank seal grommet
• Transmission cooler lines
• Weld Through, Prep All Remover, Brake Kleen, Rust Dissolver, Aircraft Paint Remover
• Oil Filter & oil
• Drum Master Cylinder
• Drive Shaft Trunion Universal Joint Boot
• Reinstalled entire breaking system (bleed & test until correct)
• Remove & replace electronic ignition

What remains to be done:

• New interior is required, including seats, front door panels, carpet insulation, carpet, front seat backs, rear seat backs, seat belts, arm rests.
• The canvas convertible top needs to be replaced with the intact frame and electrical mechanism needing new pistons, hydraulic lines and some other associated materials.
• Needs 4 new tires.
