This 1966 Chevrolet Caprice Pro Touring build takes classic
full-size Chevrolet styling and injects it with modern muscle,
modern handling, and enough torque to twist the earth off its
axis.
Under the hood sits a monstrous 496 cubic-inch Big Block Chevy
breathing through aluminum heads, Sniper electronic fuel injection,
long-tube headers, and a serpentine belt system. Fire it up and the
exhaust note lets everyone within earshot know this isn't your
grandpa's Sunday cruiser.
Backing the big block is a rugged 4L80E 4-speed automatic
transmission controlled by a TCI transmission controller, sending
power to a built 12-bolt rear end equipped with Strange axles, an
Eaton Posi unit, and 3.55 gears. It puts the power down hard while
remaining comfortable enough to eat up highway miles.
This Caprice wasn't built just to go fast in a straight line. The
suspension has been completely transformed with front coilovers,
drop spindles, and a lowered 3-link rear suspension setup that
gives this full-size Chevy handling characteristics that would
embarrass many modern performance cars. Four-wheel power disc
brakes and a hydroboost braking system provide the stopping power
needed to rein in all 496 cubic inches.
Finished in a stunning Bright Red paint job, the body is laser
straight and rust free. A set of aggressive 18-inch Rally wheels
perfectly blends vintage muscle car styling with modern Pro Touring
performance.
Inside, the black interior is loaded with upgrades including bucket
seats, Dakota Digital gauges, touchscreen stereo, backup camera,
tinted windows, and a Sparco steering wheel equipped with paddle
shifters. Power windows, power steering, heat, and air conditioning
make this beast just as enjoyable on a cross-country cruise as it
is carving up back roads.
Built right from the ground up, this Caprice delivers the best of
both worlds-classic Chevrolet luxury mixed with modern Pro Touring
performance. It has the power to pin you to the seat, the handling
to attack corners, and the presence to stop traffic everywhere it
goes.
