This 1977 Pontiac Can Am, VIN 2F37Z7P384735, represents a rare
opportunity to own a highly sought-after, one-year-only muscle car
icon. Sourced from a dedicated enthusiast's family estate following
the passing of the previous owner-who was such a passionate
collector he actually owned two of these rare cars-this Can Am is
an incredibly honest, rock-solid survivor. Backed by full Pontiac
Heritage Services (PHS) documentation, the factory billing invoice
confirms this car left the assembly line on June 9, 1977, shipped
directly to Pontiac-GMC Truck Center Inc. in Elgin, Illinois.

Restoration & Body Condition
The most extraordinary aspect of this car is its sheet metal and
structural preservation. Digital paint gauge testing indicates that
the Cameo White finish is roughly 90% original. Because it is
original lacquer from 1977, the paint is heavily checked, crazed,
and flaking away in areas. However, the good news is that the body
is remarkably free from heavy rust, and our gauge detects no signs
of body filler, even in the few minor spots that may have seen a
localized touch-up decades ago. The entire exterior, floors, and
undercarriage are completely solid, dry, and structurally superior
throughout. While the car obviously needs a comprehensive respray
to match the brilliance of its mechanical setup, it does not
require any daunting or expensive rust repair or major panel
fabrication. It is the ultimate straight, dry canvas for a high-end
cosmetic restoration.
Powertrain & Mechanical Rebuild
Mechanically, this Can Am is fully sorted and heavily upgraded,
having just received a fresh, no-expense-spared mechanical rebuild
in May 2026 totaling $4,470.12. Under the hood sits an era-correct
400ci V8 block equipped with the correct factory cylinder heads.
The engine block was disassembled inside the car to be
professionally fitted with a brand-new Comp Cam, new lifters, and a
fresh timing chain setup. While a factory Pontiac motor should
technically be painted blue, a previous owner elected to paint this
block Chevy Orange.
It is heavily optioned with an Edelbrock Torker intake manifold, a
professionally rebuilt Holley 4-barrel carburetor, chrome valve
covers, a Holley high-flow fuel pump, an aluminum radiator with
dual electric cooling fans, and fresh Brad Penn break-in oil with a
zinc supplement. The car runs completely smoke-free, holds a
perfect low idle, and revs beautifully when commanded. The engine
is currently set up with a vintage nitrous oxide system, complete
with the bottle, solenoids, and a carburetor adapter plate;
however, we have not tested or played with the nitrous system
whatsoever. Although this car was built with factory air
conditioning, the AC system has since been removed.
Driving Dynamics & Interior Features
Out on the road, this Pontiac drives exactly like a tight,
low-mileage driver should. The transmission shifts are
exceptionally crisp, confident, and engaging. It tracks straight
down the highway, behaves beautifully, and stops perfectly straight
even under heavy emergency braking. There are no unwanted road
noises, suspension clunks, or body rattles to report. Currently,
the front springs sit a bit high, giving the car a vintage rake,
while the rear features adjustable air shocks. A set of shorter
front springs would easily lower the nose and give this beast the
perfect aggressive stance it deserves.
Inside, the original factory white vinyl interior is in absolutely
fantastic condition throughout. While there are no blue accents
present inside, the cabin layout is beautifully preserved. The
factory Strato bucket seats are remarkably nice, as are the
dashboard and all of the individual instrument gauges. Essential
factory electronics and safety gear are in great shape; the
headlights, tail lights, turn signals, windshield wipers, and the
original factory radio all work properly. We do note that the
heater fan currently does not appear to kick on when instructed,
but the overall cabin presentation remains incredibly sharp and
unmolested. This is a rare, turn-key mechanical powerhouse that
just needs a paint job to be an absolute showstopper.
