427 S/C Continuation, built by Carroll Shelby and Shelby American.
The Cobra is arguably the most famous and instantly recognizable
sports car in the world, and the CSX 4000 Series 427 S/C is
everything the original 1965 cars were - and more.
Authenticity is documented the way it should be: a genuine Shelby
CSX number (CSX4948), inclusion in the official Shelby registry,
and a Manufacturer's Statement of Origin (MSO) from Shelby American
personally signed by Carroll Shelby. This is one of the very last
cars to be built and signed by Shelby himself - the man sat in this
car, and his personal autograph is on the glovebox door. Titled in
Utah as a 1965 Shelby Cobra. A copy of the original MSO signed by
Carroll accompanies the sale.
The car wears era-correct Wimbledon White with Guardsman Blue
stripes. Like all authentic Continuation Series Cobras, CSX4948 was
delivered by Shelby American as a roller - without engine or
transmission - leaving the powertrain choice to the builder. No
detail was spared in getting this example as close to the original
build as possible.
At its heart is an authentic 1960s cast-iron Ford FE 427 block,
located and built to spec - a collector-grade piece on its own. The
result is ferocious power and the 0-60 times under four seconds
these cars are legendary for. Equipment includes a Holley
carburetor, ceramic-coated side pipes, aluminum radiator with
electric cooling fans, oil cooler, Tremec TKO five-speed gearbox,
4-inch round-tube frame, Halibrand-style knockoff wheels on
street-legal tires, coil-over suspension, rack-and-pinion steering,
Shelby race-quality brakes, stainless rollbar, a correct
reverse-winding speedometer, an original-style hardwood steering
wheel, and a fiberglass body. Just over 500 miles, dry-climate
stored, and in excellent condition throughout.
