This 1946 Ford Super Deluxe custom coupe is powered by an H&H
Flathead-built 59A Flathead 284ci stroker V-8 engine mated to a
Tremec T5 five-speed manual transmission with overdrive and a Ford
9-inch rear end with 3.50 gears. The engine features a SCAT
rotating assembly that was dynamically balanced, ported, polished
and relieved and is topped with Offenhauser cylinder heads, a
S.C.O.T. blower and dual Stromberg 97 carburetors. Additional
engine equipment includes MSD electronic ignition and handmade
headers. The front suspension features a Pete & Jakes dropped axle,
split wishbones, transverse spring and Vega cross-steer steering.
The rear suspension was upgraded to a parallel leaf-spring setup.
Stopping is provided by power disc brakes with a Wilwood brake
booster. Built by Ornduff Hot Rods and Bruce's Rod Shop in Texas
with receipts totaling more than $170,000, the vehicle was
completed around 2011 and has accumulated less than 1,000 miles
since completion. Extensive metalwork was performed to achieve
panel fitment and body alignment. The exterior is finished in
Dynamic Maroon and features frenched headlights, bear-claw door
latches and a smoothed and recessed firewall. The underbody is
painted body color over Lizard Skin sound-deadener. The interior
features a Glide adjustable bench seat upholstered in Spinneybeck
hand-dyed Telluride leather. Additional interior details include a
restored dashboard, NOS gauges, Stewart-Warner gauges,
column-mounted tachometer, 1940 Ford Deluxe steering wheel,
handmade stainless-steel clutch and brake pedals, and a skull shift
knob. The S.C.O.T.-supercharged Flathead engine was built by
H&H Flatheads in La Crescenta, California. This car remained
with the same family for more than 70 years after being purchased
by the previous owner's grandfather in 1951.
