The 1993 Thunderbird was the first in the nameplate's history not
to be offered with a V8 engine, which put the entire weight of the
Super Coupe's reputation squarely on the supercharged 3.8 liter V6.
It delivered. Automotive journalists at the time noted that if the
Super Coupe had worn a BMW badge instead of a blue oval, it would
have been accepted without question as a serious European-style GT
coupe. Only 4,178 were built in 1993, and this one has lived a life
that is as well documented and well preserved as any example you
will find. Finished in Oxford White over grey leather with a
sunroof, it is clean, correct, and all original from one owner from
new.
Under the hood is the 3.8 liter supercharged V6 producing 210
horsepower and 315 pound-feet of torque, backed by a four speed
automatic. The supercharger gives the engine a character that the
naturally aspirated version never had, with a broad, confident
torque curve that pulls hard from low RPM all the way through. Ride
control, cruise control, power everything, and the JBL audio system
round out a car that Ford positioned squarely against the personal
luxury coupes of its era, and built well enough to back that
up.
Inside, the grey leather interior is all original and in excellent
condition. The sunroof is present and working, and the cabin
reflects what a one-owner, summer-only car looks like after more
than 30 years of careful ownership. The original purchase agreement
comes with the car, which is the kind of documentation that tells a
complete story without leaving anything to the imagination.
The history on this particular car is worth reading carefully. It
was in California from 1997 through 2019, spent those years in a
climate that asked almost nothing of the body or interior, and has
been summer driven only in Michigan since 2019 with no winter miles
and no dirt roads. The odometer reads 34,669 miles. For a car of
this age, that number is not just low. It is exceptional. A
one-owner Oxford White Super Coupe with the purchase agreement, all
original interior, and this kind of documented history is not a car
that sits on the market long once the right buyer finds it.
