Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is proud to present this
1973 Triumph TR6, finished in a bold red exterior with a warm tan
leather interior. This TR6 has all the right ingredients of a
classic British roadster: a long hood, short rear deck, 4-speed
manual transmission, open-air driving, and a simple cockpit built
around the driver.
Under the hood is a rebuilt 2.5L inline 6-cylinder engine with
approximately 2,000 miles since the refresh. The engine has been
updated with a new distributor with electronic ignition, a stock
grind camshaft, an aluminum valve cover, a cold air intake, and
freshly tuned carburetors with new floats, needles, and jets.
Helping keep things cool is a Wizard Cooling aluminum radiator with
a chrome shroud, along with an electric fan and manual override.
The oil pressure gauge line has also been replaced with a braided
hose.
The 4-speed manual transmission gives this TR6 the engaging feel
that makes these cars so enjoyable to drive. The clutch system has
been refreshed with a new clutch, pressure plate, throw-out
bearing, fork, master cylinder, and slave cylinder. The
original-style cardboard transmission tunnel has also been replaced
with ABS, adding a nice durability-minded upgrade beneath the
interior.
Inside, the cabin has seen plenty of attention while still keeping
its classic British sports car feel. It features a replaced
woodgrain dashboard, new carpet kit, Miata seat conversion with new
skins and speakers, a Kenwood radio, wind blocker, and new seat
belts. The tan interior pairs nicely with the red exterior and
gives the car a clean, comfortable, and driver-focused look.
This TR6 also benefits from suspension updates, including new front
springs, ball joints, bushings, front shocks, sway bar bushings,
and end links. Out back, it has new rear springs and bushings as
well. A Robbins convertible top adds to the overall presentation,
while the Coker red line tires help complete the period-style
appearance.
With its rebuilt inline-six, 4-speed manual transmission, refreshed
interior components, upgraded cooling system, updated suspension,
Robbins convertible top, and classic red-over-tan color
combination, this 1973 Triumph TR6 is a fun, sharp-looking roadster
with plenty of character and thoughtful improvements
throughout.
