The 1991 Nissan Figaro is a front-engine, front-wheel-drive
fixed-profile convertible originally manufactured exclusively for
the Japanese Market. Produced for only a single model year, it was
built by Nissan's special projects group---the "Pike
Factory"---which specialized in creating limited-run,
vintage-inspired vehicles. Its distinctive 1950s retro-modern
aesthetic, combined with practical modern underpinnings, has earned
it a global cult following.Designed under the theme "Tokyo Nouvelle
Vague," the Figaro was heavily inspired by European microcars from
the 1950s and 1960s.- The Body: It features a prominent chrome
grille, round headlights, and a unique retractable soft-top fabric
roof. Unlike a standard convertible, the side roof rails and rear
pillars remain fixed in place when the top is down.- Seasonal
Colors: Every factory vehicle was painted in one of four distinct
colors, each representing a season:* Emerald Green (Spring)* Pale
Aqua (Summer)* Topaz (Autumn)* Lapis Grey (Winter)- The Interior:
The retro themes continue inside with ivory-colored leather seats,
classic analog chrome-rimmed gauges, a thin three-spoke steering
wheel, and custom Art Deco-style switches.Nissan originally planned
a production run of just 8,000 units. However, consumer interest
was so overwhelming that Nissan increased production to 20,073
units. To distribute the limited supply fairly, prospective buyers
in Japan had to win a spot through a specialized lottery
system. This low miles example has been a part of the Duncan Imports
collections since 2018 and has recently been moved to retail sales.
