Offered here is a genuine survivor 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air, finished
in its original Matador Red paint and powered by the desirable
Power Pack 283ci V8 engine paired with a Powerglide automatic
transmission. This Bel Air represents the type of honest,
well-preserved classic that is becoming increasingly difficult to
find-an unmodified car that has been properly stored, cared for,
and enjoyed throughout its life.
The exterior retains its original Matador Red finish and presents
nicely overall with the character and authenticity that enthusiasts
appreciate in a survivor vehicle. The paint and chrome still show
well from a distance and make for an attractive presentation,
though they are beginning to show their age in some areas and could
benefit from refreshing if a higher level of finish is desired. The
passenger side door does show a couple of very small paint bubbles,
but overall the body remains solid with no signs of rot.
Inside, the Bel Air features its classic red and black bench seat
interior that complements the exterior perfectly. The cabin remains
largely original and provides a wonderful glimpse back into the
golden age of American automobiles. It is the type of interior that
feels authentic and untouched rather than over-restored.
Under the hood sits the legendary 283ci V8 equipped with the
desirable Power Pack setup and original 4-barrel carburetor. The
engine starts easily, runs smoothly, and performs exactly as it
should. The Powerglide automatic transmission shifts well through
the gears, making this Bel Air an enjoyable cruiser whether around
town or on weekend drives.
The car rides on its original hubcap wheels wrapped in Coker
Classic tires, maintaining the proper factory appearance. Also
included are the original spare tire and factory jack.
Equipped with:
Power Pack 283ci V8
Original 4-barrel carburetor
Powerglide automatic transmission
Manual steering
Manual brakes
Original hubcaps
Coker Classic tires
Original spare tire and jack
Mechanically, the car runs and drives very well. The engine
performs strong, the transmission shifts smoothly, and the car
stops and steers nicely as it should.
A few items currently inoperative include:
Bright lights
Windshield wipers
Radio
The odometer currently shows 65K miles. While the mileage is not
documented, the overall condition and originality of the vehicle
suggest it could very well be original mileage.
This Bel Air is not a show car, nor is it pretending to be one.
Instead, it is an honest, well-kept driver that has not been
over-restored, modified, or "hankied up" over the years. It offers
the perfect opportunity for someone looking to own and enjoy a
genuine 1957 Chevrolet survivor. Leave it exactly as it sits and
enjoy the originality, or use it as an excellent candidate for a
light restoration while preserving its authentic character.
A solid, highly recognizable Tri-Five Chevrolet that runs and
drives well, presents nicely, and remains one of the most iconic
American classics ever built.
