INTRODUCTION: This 1969 Camaro checks all the right boxes. Restored
to retain its iconic factory appearance while benefiting from a
host of modern upgrades underneath. I would call it a true
resto-mod offering authentic look everyone loves, but now it offers
the reliability, comfort, and performance of a much newer car. How
about an LS1 Corvette engine backed by a 4L60 overdrive trans and
it's equipped with Classic Auto Air, four-wheel disc brakes, and a
Ford 9-inch rear end! giving it the drivability to enjoy on today's
roads.
EXTERIOR: Even though this car has a long list of upgrades, it
still retains the factory charm that made these cars so desirable
in the first place. In fact, this one takes it to another level
with its combination of the Rally Sport and Super Sport packages,
great colors, and tasteful enhancements. The body is absolutely
straight and fits beautifully, showing no signs of rust or damage.
As a Rally Sport, it features the iconic hideaway headlights, which
have been upgraded with electric doors for reliable operation.
Refinished in striking Hugger Orange without a vinyl top, the paint
has been polished to a glass smooth shine. The look is further
enhanced with front and rear spoilers, hockey stick stripes, and a
blacked out tail panel. It is also equipped with the Exterior Trim
Group, which includes quarter panel louvers, wheel opening
moldings, and rain gutter moldings. A rare remote driver's mirror
adds another desirable touch. The chrome and trim are bright and
sparkling, the weatherstrips have been replaced, and the windshield
is new. The finishing touch is a set of Rally style wheels with a
modern twist. They are 17 inch billet machined versions of the
classic design, wrapped in performance tires that provide an
aggressive stance while complementing the car's vintage
appearance.
INTERIOR: Keeping with the resto-mod theme inside with the very
desirable deluxe houndstooth interior, with some modernizations to
keep it reliable and comfortable. It is updated with a new wiring
system, including a blade style fuse panel. This whole dash area is
restored, and it does have modern gauges in place of the originals,
including in the factory console, which still uses the staple
shifter. The shift indicator has been updated with the overdrive
indicator. A reproduction steering wheel is on a tilt column. The
climate control panel has been updated with electric slides
eliminating the old sticky cables. There's also a retro stereo in
place of the original and it powers kick panel speakers. The molded
door panels have been replaced, and there's no window cranks
because it has power windows! The seats have been recushioned and
reupholstered. Seat belts for everyone, upgraded with three point
retractable in front. The carpet and headliner are fresh, it's
literally excellent from carpet to headliner!
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: At the heart of this build is an LS1 Corvette
engine that looks exceptionally fresh- almost as if it was just
installed. It's topped with a FiTech intake, throttle body, and
ECU, along with aluminum cylinder heads. I was told it has been
upgraded with a slightly hotter camshaft and a set of stainless
steel headers for improved performance and sound. The engine bay
has been thoughtfully detailed with a smoothed firewall and a
neatly installed Classic Auto Air air conditioning system. A modern
serpentine belt drive system powers the accessories, while upgrades
include an aluminum radiator, electric cooling fan, transmission
cooler, custom cold air intake, and modern power steering. The
brake system has been upgraded with a new power booster, master
cylinder, and lines. Additional improvements include an upgraded
wiper motor, new horns, and quality hose fittings throughout. It
delivers the reliability, drivability, and performance of a modern
vehicle!
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Under the deck lid and in the jamb is neatly
painted orange. The weatherstrip and seat divider has been replaced
and inside you'll find clean, solid metal finished with a fresh
spatter paint coating.
UNDERSIDE: Underneath has been rebuilt and given upgrades for
performance and drivability. Up front, the steering and suspension
have been gone through and upgraded with tubular control arms.
Frame connectors tie the front to the rear, helping prevent body
twist. In the back, it has Bilstein gas shocks. The brake system
has been upgraded with discs at all four wheels, and the e-brake
assembly is hooked up. It has a great sounding stainless steel
exhaust system with an X-pipe and MagnaFlow mufflers. The fuel
system was replaced and upgraded to be compatible with the fuel
injected motor. Looking up at the engine, it has a Holley oil pan
and high torque starter. It is also upgraded with a 4L65E overdrive
automatic transmission with a Corvette servo shift kit. A rebuilt
driveshaft leads back to a 9-inch rear end with 3.50 posi gears.
The metal looks very dry. The floors and rockers are smooth, clean,
and neatly painted satin black.
SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and reputation. Therefore, we
built a 2 million dollar, 10,000 square ft service center, and
hired a team of technicians to service the essentials on every car
we sell.
CONCLUSION: This is not a pro touring build, but rather a
beautifully restored Restomod Camaro with carefully integrated
modern upgrades. The perfect marriage of vintage and modern!
