The daughter of the original owner tells the story of how she came to own this beautiful, 2 owner, 21,000 mile, mostly original Ford F100 Flareside.
She told us that back in 66, they had gathered for a family dinner and her uncle rolled in with a bright red, brand new truck. Her dad fell in love with the truck and throughout dinner, after dinner when out looking at his brother's new truck and later when everyone was in the living room, he couldn't stop talking about the truck. His wife said "Rob, if you like it so much, why not head down to Koerner's tomorrow and get it?"
He didn't need any more than that. The next day he went and purchased it.
The two brothers had matching trucks. When they passed, the son got Dad's truck and the daughter got her uncle Will's truck .. this truck. It was always garaged. Was hardly ever driven in the winter and was mostly used for forays down to Lebanon Valley drag strip in upstate NY.
The daughter/niece, tells us that the truck was never fully repainted but certain panels were over time as they got scratched/worn. Notably the hood, front fenders and doors.
The current owner has had the truck for about 5 years and in that time he's replaced the shocks, the tires, rubber brake lines, fuel filter, fuel sending unit, water pump, starter, exhaust and last fall had a full oil change/filter. The daughter/niece says that the truck absolutely was not driven enough to have 121,000 miles and looking at the overall condition, the seat, the frame, suspension, etc. this IS a 21K mile Ford F-100.
The 352 V8 puts out roughly 200 hp and the clutch grabs firmly and sends this truck down the road easily, the 3 speed manual, on the tree, shifting smoothly.
Everything about the truck screams solid and real. This truck is not perfect, but it's a real truck that when standing even just 5 feet away looks like a show truck. It starts right up, idles smoothly with 35 psi of oil pressure, near 60 when cold started. The dual exhaust sounds great but not hot rod gnarly. The ride is car like despite being a 66 and there are all sorts of rattles and bangs, it's quiet.
The interior is clean and original, the underside, the same .. clean and original. Very minor surface rust in a couple of places, but not prevalent.
All the gauges work, lights, blinkers, wipers. The radio turns on but does not tune in any stations, makes a loud clicking noise.
Totally turn key and ready to use and enjoy ... although with only 21K miles, does one want to run that number up?
Asking price is $32,000
