Offered here is a beautifully restored and highly documented 1965
Ford Mustang Convertible, finished in its original factory-correct
Silver Blue Metallic with a matching blue and white Pony Interior.
This first-generation Mustang combines desirable factory options,
extensive documentation, and timeless styling that continues to
make these cars some of the most sought-after American classics on
the road today.
According to the included VIN and data plate information, this
Mustang was built at Ford's Dearborn, Michigan assembly plant and
was originally equipped with the desirable C-code 289 cubic inch V8
engine and automatic transmission. The data plate confirms the car
retains its original Silver Blue Metallic color combination along
with the highly desirable blue and white Pony Interior.
The exterior presents very well with attractive Silver Blue paint,
a tan convertible top, and excellent chrome and brightwork
throughout. Styled steel wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A
tires give the car a classic Mustang appearance that fits the era
perfectly.
Inside, the Pony Interior is one of the highlights of the car. The
blue and white upholstery, matching door panels, center console,
carpeting, and wood-rim steering wheel create an inviting and
authentic 1960s driving environment. The interior shows extremely
well overall and reflects the care this Mustang has received
throughout its life.
Power comes from the legendary 289 V8 paired with an automatic
transmission, delivering the smooth and enjoyable cruising
experience that helped make the Mustang an American icon. The
engine bay presents nicely and the car starts, runs, and drives
well.
One of the strongest attributes of this Mustang is its extensive
documentation. Included with the vehicle are historical
registration records, ownership documents, original sales
paperwork, restoration receipts, maintenance records, service
invoices, and documentation showing over $30,000 invested into the
restoration and upkeep of the car.
The restoration included substantial work to the body, paint,
interior, suspension, brakes, cooling system, fuel system,
electrical components, weatherstripping, and numerous other areas
throughout the vehicle. The trunk is properly finished and includes
the correct-style mat and spare tire cover.
As with many classic Mustangs that have been driven and enjoyed
over the years, the lower rocker panels and portions of the
underbody do show evidence of rust repair performed at some point
in the past. The repairs have allowed the car to remain a solid and
enjoyable driver, but this is not being represented as an untouched
or concours-level restoration.
Everything on the car functions properly with the exception of the
horn and radio, which are currently inoperative.
Overall, this is a very attractive, highly documented 1965 Mustang
Convertible that offers the perfect balance between show and go.
With its desirable factory color combination, 289 V8 power, Pony
Interior, automatic transmission, and extensive history file, it is
an excellent candidate for weekend cruising, local car shows, and
enjoying one of the most recognizable American classics ever
built.
