The 1970 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 is widely regarded as one of the
greatest performance Camaros ever built, combining aggressive
second-generation styling with one of Chevrolet's most legendary
small-block engines. This particular example is a documented
factory Z28 finished in its highly desirable original color
combination of Mulsanne Blue over a black bucket seat interior and
represents one of only 8,733 Z28s produced for the 1970 model
year.
Under the hood is the legendary LT1 350 cubic-inch V8, factory
rated at 360 horsepower and backed by a Muncie M21 4-speed manual
transmission. The original G80 performance rear axle with the
desirable 4.10 gear ratio remains in place, providing the kind of
acceleration and driving excitement that helped establish the Z28
as a dominant force during the golden era of American performance.
This is the combination that made the 1970 Z28 a favorite among
enthusiasts and road racers alike.
Adding confidence to its authenticity, this Camaro was
professionally inspected by renowned Camaro authority Jerry
MacNeish of Camaro Hi-Performance LLC. His inspection confirmed
that this is a genuine factory Mulsanne Blue Z28. The car retains
its original factory paint code 26, identifying the highly
sought-after Mulsanne Blue finish that complements the body lines
of the second-generation Camaro perfectly.
The engine currently carries a VIN stamp; however, according to the
inspection findings, the engine was decked and restamped at some
point in its history, making it impossible to conclusively verify
originality. The car is being represented accordingly and honestly.
Enthusiasts familiar with collector Camaros understand the
importance of transparency, and this Z28 comes with the benefit of
professional evaluation and documentation.
Factory equipment includes the desirable D80 rear spoiler, F41
Special Suspension, J52 power front disc brakes, N40 power
steering, AO1 tinted glass, U14 instrument panel gauge package, and
the M21 close-ratio 4-speed transmission. Together, these options
created one of the best-balanced performance cars Chevrolet offered
during the muscle car era.
The black bucket seat interior presents well and maintains the
purposeful, driver-oriented atmosphere expected from a Z28. The
original AM radio has been replaced with a Custom Audio retro-style
radio, providing modern functionality while preserving the factory
appearance of the dashboard.
Performance has been enhanced with a set of headers feeding a full
Pypes exhaust system, giving the LT1 the aggressive sound it
deserves. For collectors seeking originality, the original exhaust
headers are included with the sale.
Finished in its factory-correct Mulsanne Blue paint, this Camaro
has tremendous curb appeal and showcases the styling that made the
1970 model year so significant in Camaro history. The long hood,
aggressive stance, and distinctive Z28 features combine to create
one of the most recognizable muscle cars of the era.
Accompanied by Jerry MacNeish's inspection report dated March 28,
2026, this documented factory Z28 offers an excellent opportunity
to own one of Chevrolet's most celebrated performance cars. With
its desirable factory colors, 4-speed transmission, LT1 powerplant,
documented Z28 pedigree, and strong overall presentation, this
Camaro is ready to be driven, shown, and enjoyed by its next
caretaker. It is a great-looking example of one of the most iconic
Z28s Chevrolet ever built.
