Cruisin Classics is excited to present this 1979 Chevrolet Camaro
Z28. Of the record 282,000 Camaros produced in '79, only 3,450 of
them were dressed in Light Green paint (code 40) - the lowest
production color that year - and this is one of those rare cars!
This car comes with GM Heritage Center docs that include a dealer
invoice for the car that details all the options that it was built
with, including color. The trim tag also decodes correctly to this
car. The paint on this Z28 is in truly excellent condition with a
smooth glossy shine. The previous owner told us that he believes
the paint is original, but at 83,216 actual miles it is hard to
believe that it could still look so nice. We don't see any obvious
evidence of a respray though, so if it was repainted, it's one of
the best repaints we've seen. The same goes for the two-tone green
decal package which is also in such good condition that it's hard
to believe that it's original. The front end of this Camaro
features a faux hood scoop with decals, round headlights in black
buckets, upper & lower black eggcrate grilles, and a front spoiler
with fender flares. Moving around to the side, the sporty body
lines come into full view. There are louvered fender vents, dual
body-color side mirrors, bright window and hood trim, and a 3-piece
rear spoiler. Perfectly accenting the car are a set of body-color
5-spoke factory wheels with beauty rings all wrapped in BF Goodrich
Radial T/A's. In the rear you'll find more green decals on the back
of the spoiler along with a Z28 call-out, a hidden gas fill door
centered between clear taillights, and dual exhaust exits.
Lift the hood to reveal a very stock engine bay with what we
believe to be the original 5.7 liter 350ci V-8 at the center. The
blue block is topped off with blue valve covers, a newer 4-barrel
Quadrajet carburetor, and a black OEM air cleaner. Ahead of the
engine is a newer water pump, a power steering unit, and a Delco
Air A/C compressor that still pumps cold air into the cabin. The
V-8 is mated up to a 3-speed automatic transmission that send power
to the rear wheels via a 10-bolt axle. Stopping power comes from
power front disc and rear drum brakes with a newer-looking master
cylinder. Exhaust flows through cast manifolds and dual mufflers
before exiting the tailpipes with a growl.
The interior of this Z28 is outfitted just the way it was from
factory and it looks stunning. The green vinyl door panels are in
very good condition and they offer power locks and a driver's
mirror toggle. The seats are standard green vinyl buckets (44R)
with high backs and they are in exceptional condition, not to
mention, they're a perfect complement to the green exterior.
Between the front buckets is a green center console with an armrest
/ storage box (light wear on the top), controls for the power
windows, the shifter for the automatic, and a storage slot.
Overhead is a tight green felt headliner and underfoot is
good-looking green carpet kept nice with dark green carpeted logo
mats. Ahead of the driver is a correct green 4-spoke rope-wound Z28
steering wheel with a working horn and tilt column. The turn signal
lever also operates the factory optional cruise control. The dash
is topped with a crack-free green vinyl dash pad and has black
gauge and instrument bezels that show light wear in high-contact
areas. The working round factory gauges include fuel, battery, and
temp as well as a 120mph speedometer and a 7K tach. There's also an
analog clock but it's currently inop. As mentioned earlier, the
odometer shows 83,212 actual miles. To the left of the gauges are
controls for the lights and intermittent wipers and to the left
there's a lighter and a switch for the rear defogger. Low to the
drivers left are easy-to-use climate controls that offer cold A/C
and hot heat on demand. In the center of the dash is the original
Delco AM/FM radio that plays your cruisin soundtrack through a dash
speaker and a pair of 6X9's on the rear package tray. Around back
in the carpeted trunk you'll find a mini spare and a factory
jack.
If it's a late-70's Z28 you're looking for, this Camaro is going to
get your heart beating faster! This is a very well cared for car
loaded up with great factory options and dressed in the rarest
available paint color for '79 - it's quite a find! You can hop
right in this car, turn the key, and cruise to a car show with the
cold A/C blowing knowing that you'll be the only one there with a
Light Green Camaro with green vinyl interior! Give our friendly
staff a call today and be the lucky one who gets to call this Z28
their own!
