Some cars are built to cruise. Others are built to make a
statement. This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Rally Sport Replica was built
to do both while intimidating everything parked next to it.
Lurking beneath the cowl hood is a hard-hitting 408 cubic inch
Small Block Chevy Stroker that was assembled with performance in
mind. The combination includes Eagle connecting rods, a forged
crankshaft, 10:1 forged pistons, hydraulic roller camshaft, full
roller valvetrain, aluminum heads, MSD billet distributor, MSD 6AL
ignition system, and an oversized aluminum radiator to keep things
cool when the action heats up. The result is a nasty street
combination that sounds as mean as it looks.
Backing the stroker is a TH400 3-speed automatic transmission
equipped with a 3000-stall converter, sending power to a fortified
10-bolt rear end loaded with Auburn Posi traction, Moser axles,
Richmond 3.55 gears, and an aluminum rear-end girdle. When the
light turns green, this Camaro is ready for business.
The suspension has been upgraded with QA1 coilovers up front and
QA1 shocks out back, giving the car a planted stance and improved
handling. Power steering keeps it easy to drive while power brakes
with drilled and slotted front discs provide the stopping power
needed for a car with this much attitude.
Finished in sinister black, this Rally Sport Replica wears the
iconic hideaway headlights that made the RS package legendary. A
cowl induction hood adds even more muscle to the profile, while a
set of 17-inch American Racing Torq Thrust wheels perfectly finish
off the aggressive street-fighter look.
Inside, the black interior keeps things classic and purposeful.
Vinyl bucket seats up front, rear bench seating, a center console
packed with auxiliary gauges, and a B&M shifter put the driver
firmly in command.
This isn't some polished trailer queen afraid of a rock chip. It's
a blacked-out first-generation Camaro built to rumble, cruise, and
leave a lasting impression everywhere it goes. Turn the key, crack
the throttle, and let the 408 do the talking.
