This 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu is a tribute to the NASCAR
stock car No. 13 raced by Curtis Turner in 1967 and built by Smokey
Yunick. It is powered by a Target crate 350ci V-8 engine mated to
an automatic transmission, and is equipped with double hump heads,
aluminum intake and water pump, along with a 1961 Corvette dual
point distributor and Trans Am style side-exit exhaust. Also
included is a separate 396/375hp complete V-8 engine that was
shipped to Smokey to be used in a Camaro promotion at the
Bonneville Salt Flats speed trials. GM Engineering request TO0311
EG 19637-14-E is stamped on the engine pad. Smokey had to use GM
parts, so the heads were done by Mondellos in California.
Compression is 11.5 and the cam shows 580 lift at the valve. On the
dyno, the engine produced 540hp at 8100 rpm. The owner met Smokey
originally in 1967 in his garage in Florida and in 1989 received
permission to build this tribute, which Smokey ultimately
autographed in 1998 and 1999. Included is a 40-year accumulation of
Smokey Yunick automobilia and artifacts. 63,866 miles (title reads
exempt). Title branded as Non-Actual Warning: Odometer Discrepancy.
