This 2001 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 custom convertible is powered by a
5.7-liter LS6 V-8 engine with a Katech upgrade package, including a
Donaldson Blackwing airbox, carbon-fiber engine cover, revised
camshaft, throttle body, cylinder heads and exhaust headers. The
engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission and
rear-wheel drive with a limited-slip differential. The engine is
based on an aluminum block design with increased airflow and a
10.5:1 compression ratio. It is equipped with a Corsa Performance
exhaust system. The suspension features increased spring rates and
damping along with a larger front stabilizer bar and has been
lowered. Additional chassis features include active handling,
traction control and speed-sensitive rack-and-pinion power
steering. Stopping power is handled by Baer cross-drilled and
slotted disc brakes. This example was converted to a convertible
configuration by the Prefix Corporation of Rochester Hills,
Michigan, in conjunction with Skunk Werkes, and features a black
soft-top. Exterior elements include a Skunk Werkes body kit with a
cowl-induction hood, straked fender vents, wrap-around rear spoiler
and front bumper cover and rocker panel extensions, along with mesh
grille inserts, pop-up headlights, Z06 fender badges and rear brake
vents. Chrome 17-inch front and 18-inch rear alloy wheels are
mounted with 265/40 front and 295/35 rear Firestone Firehawk Wide
Oval tires. The interior features aftermarket bucket seats
upholstered in black leather with red accents extending to the
lower dashboard, door panels, center console lid and shifter and
parking brake boots. Additional interior equipment includes Simpson
five-point harnesses, leather-wrapped decorative roll hoops,
carbon-fiber door panels, brushed nickel trim, a short-throw
shifter with billet knob, dual-zone automatic climate control,
cruise control and an onboard computer. The Bose sound system
includes a Kenwood touchscreen head unit with backup camera, Alpine
amplifier and concealed subwoofer. A tag on the driver-side door
jamb designates this car as a Z06 Limited Edition enhanced by the
Prefix Corporation. The sale includes a window sticker, magazine
articles and an owner's manual signed by John Cafaro.
