INTRODUCTION: This is not your average Chevelle. It is a
professionally built, rotisserie restored muscle machine that was
engineered with the same attention to detail underneath as it
received on top. The combination of stunning Burnt Orange Metallic
paint, a 707+ horsepower 496 big block, race quality suspension,
and overdrive transmission make this one of the most complete and
impressive Chevelles we've had the privilege of offering. It has
the looks to win trophies, the power to humble modern performance
cars, and the drivability to enjoy on the highway.
EXTERIOR: The owner told me the paint was literally flawless, I
hear that all the time and usually take it with a grain of salt.
This may be one of those rare occasions where it's actually true!
After my inspection of the paint, I could not find a single flaw.
Every square inch of the body is laser straight, and all of the
gaps are square and flush. The Burnt Orange Metallic paint is
polished like glass, with the metallic laid out evenly from panel
to panel. I found no chips, cracks, fish eyes, touch-ups, or
imperfections. The SS stripes are properly applied and smooth to
the touch. The cowl induction hood features a functional flapper
door, adding to the aggressive muscle car appearance. The trim,
moldings, grille, lenses, weatherstrips, and seals have all been
replaced. The new smoked glass gives it a custom touch, while LED
halo headlights and LED taillights modernize visibility. Completing
the stance is a set of Rocket Racing Attack semi-forged wheels
measuring 18x9 up front and 18x10 in back, wrapped in Nitto G2
performance tires.
INTERIOR: The interior has been completely restored and
thoughtfully upgraded for both comfort and style. The Procar sport
bucket seats provide excellent support and are equipped with racing
seat belts to keep you firmly planted in place. Front and rear
seats are upholstered in classic houndstooth material, giving the
cabin a vintage muscle car look. Fresh carpet covers the floor and
is complemented by embroidered floor mats. Looking around, you'll
find new reproduction door panels, armrests, window cranks, and
handles. Up above, a new headliner and rearview mirror complete the
fresh appearance. What you don't see is the all new Painless wiring
system. The dashboard has been completely renewed with a new dash
pad and instrument panel. Custom gauges provide accurate monitoring
while blending nicely with the overall theme, less than 2,500 miles
are on the odometer since the build. A retro style stereo fits
neatly in the factory location and in front of the driver is a
polished wood rim steering wheel mounted on a tilt column, and the
coolest custom pedals I've seen near the floor. The center console
houses a B&M ratchet shifter, adding both performance appeal
and a sporty feel to the cockpit.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Lift the hood and you'll find a beautifully
detailed engine bay that blends performance with presentation. The
performance built 496 has forged crank, rods and pistons, 10.6:1
compression, roller cam and rockers, aluminum AFR heads, Edelbrock
intake, custom built Pro Systems 1,000 cfm carb, Flame Thrower
custom curved/phased HEI ignition is equipped with an HEI ignition
system and a set of coated Lemons 2" headers. It was Dyno tested at
707 hp and it has been further improved and dialed in since, it has
an abundance of power! It's dressed with AFR valve covers and
features a complete billet front runner system with serpentine
pulleys, billet brackets, and a modern alternator. The power
steering is new and upgraded with a CPP gear box. It is also
upgraded with a Wilwood master cylinder, premium fuel lines with a
fuel pressure regulator, all new wiring and a Fastronix system.
Keeping everything cool is a large aluminum radiator fitted with a
custom shroud, overflow bottle and dual electric fans. The entire
compartment is neatly organized, highly detailed, and shows the
level of craftsmanship that went into this build.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Under the trunk lid and jamb are finished just
as nicely as the exterior, the weatherstrip and latch mechanisms
have been replaced, and billet trunk hinges add a custom touch.
Inside, the metal is exceptionally clean and solid with a crisp
spatter painted finish. The battery has been relocated to the trunk
and secured in a polished stainless Taylor battery box. Overall,
the trunk is every bit as detailed and impressive as the rest of
the vehicle.
UNDERSIDE: It is detailed, fresh, and seriously upgraded. The body
was removed from the chassis and placed on a rotisserie for
restoration. The frame was sent to a race car builder in Colorado
Springs who perfected the suspension geometry. Remarkably, the car
required no alignment shims in the control arms, a testament to the
precision of the work performed. The frame was blasted and powder
coated for long lasting durability. Up front, it features Global
West tubular control arms, double adjustable Viking coilover gas
shocks, a heavy duty swaybar, and an additional tubular support
bar. In back, it has a 1-inch UMI linked sway bar, Global West
control arms, and double adjustable coilover gas shocks. The brake
system has been completely replaced and upgraded with Wilwood 4
piston calipers, drilled and slotted 2 piece disc brakes at all
four corners. The exhaust is a custom 3-inch stainless Pypes system
with Violator mufflers and remote operated electric cutouts,
allowing you to control the attitude with the push of a button. The
fuel system was also completely replaced, including a new tank
equipped with an internal Aeromotive Stealth fuel pump. Looking up
at the engine, you'll find a Moroso 7-quart oil pan and a high
torque starter. The Turbo 475 automatic transmission, originally
based on a heavy duty RV unit, was performance built to handle
1,500 hp. It features straight cut gears, a manual valve body, an
extra capacity finned aluminum pan, and a Gear Vendors
overdrive/underdrive system. A Mark Williams aluminum driveshaft
with a safety loop transfers power to a Moser 12-bolt rear end
equipped with 3.42 posi gears, c-clip eliminators, 33-spline axles,
-inch wheel studs, and a girdle cover. The floors are rock solid
and neatly coated with chip guard. This Chevelle is exceptionally
clean underneath and engineered to comfortably handle every bit of
its 707-plus horsepower!
SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and our reputation. Every
vehicle goes through our service department where it is inspected,
test driven, and we address the essentials before offering it for
sale.
CONCLUSION: After inspecting this Chevelle firsthand, it became
obvious that this is a meticulously engineered and expertly
assembled machine. As I reviewed the extensive list of components
and upgrades, it became clear that expense was never the deciding
factor. Quality, performance, and doing things the right way were
the priorities. After speaking with the owner-builder, it was
equally apparent that this car is the result of careful planning,
extensive knowledge, and a tremendous amount of pride. Every system
was thoughtfully selected to work together, from the 707-plus
horsepower big block and race prepared chassis to the overdrive
transmission and premium suspension components. Nothing about this
build feels random or pieced together. The reality is you can
easily spend a quarter million dollars building a car of this
caliber today, and there is no guarantee it will turn out this
well. It offers stunning looks, brutal performance, exceptional
drivability, and a level of quality that is difficult to
duplicate.
