This 1981 Alpina C1 2.3 represents one of the most engaging and
collectible variants of BMW's first-generation 3-Series, blending
Alpina's performance tuning expertise with timeless E21 styling.
Finished in striking Polaris Silver and adorned with Alpina's
iconic green and blue graphics, this rare example showcases the
perfect balance of understated elegance and motorsport-inspired
flair.
Under the hood lies Alpina's enhanced 2.3-litre inline six-cylinder
engine, equipped with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and producing
170 horsepower. The upgrades included modified combustion chambers,
higher compression, and a revised camshaft, giving the car lively
performance with a 0-100 km/h sprint of just 7.8 seconds. Power is
delivered to the rear wheels through a 5-speed Getrag manual
transmission, while Alpina further sharpened handling with Bilstein
suspension, uprated front brakes with dual ventilated discs, a
revised differential, and subtle aerodynamic additions including a
rear spoiler.
Inside, the C1 continues the Alpina ethos with a stunning blue
leather interior highlighted by optional Recaro bucket seats, an
Alpina steering wheel, wooden shift knob, unique instrumentation,
and the all-important Alpina production plaque. Period-correct
Alpina 15-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels with black centres complete
the car's distinctive look.
