For Sale: 1956 Lincoln Continental Mark II in Pembroke, Massachusetts

Vehicle Description

MAGNIFICENT in Presidential Black over a factory correct deep red and medium gray Scottish leather interior. An odd but stunning combination and yes, that's how it was built. We have a copy of the original sales order from Continental.

Don't call it a Lincoln. It's purely a Continental. If you know, you know. If you don't have a little fun and do some research. These were the Rolls Royce of the American automobile. Literally hand crafted NOT on an assembly line but rather rolling stations at a specific location just for these cars to be crafted. The quality control was second to none and unlike we'd ever seen before on this side of the pond. That all came at a premium however as these cars were over $10,000 after taxes when new! That's over $100K in todays dollars. Staggering. Obviously built only for those that could afford one and for that, only just over 3,000 were built in it's short two year run (56-57).

Here we have a nice, very presentable and super clean and solid example. With a known history back to day one (The original owner was on the Board Of Directors at Coca-Cola in Atlanta.) and paper trail back to 1979 with lots of receipts and previous collector registrations. A lot was invested in this car over the years. I thought the leather upholstery was original but one of the letters I found from an owner around 2013 states that at some point, the seats were re-upholstered with the correct hides and colors. You'd swear it was original with just a touch of wear. The paint is a very good driver quality with some orange peal evident here and there. I suspect a professional wet sanding and dep polish would do wonders but it wasn't a first class job to begin with so you won't be winning any trophies and Pebble Beach. This is just a terrific, reliable, turn key example of the best of the best from the 1950's. The power seat functions all work as designed as do the power vent windows and both front door windows. Both rear quarter windows are inoperative. The factory fuel gauge is inoperative (we do have the original sending unit in a box) but an aftermarket one was added under the dash. As was an oil pressure gauge.

The undercarriage of the car is stupendous. You could eat off the frame, it's that clean. There is some normal 'scale' on some of the suspension components, ect but again, this car isn't a concourse competitor. If you're looking for an affordable one that won't break the bank in restoration costs and you just want to enjoy it, drive it and not have a trailer queen, well, I think you've found it.

We have this car on consignment and is located in south eastern Massachusetts. I'd be happy to arrange an in person inspection. I can also handle the transport of this car to anywhere in the US. This car has hardly been driven over the past year as it's owner fell ill. Some light maintenance will most likely be in order although I will tell you, this car starts on one turn of the key every time and purrs smoothly from the start, no matter how long it's been sitting. I think you'll be impressed.
