1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Pro Touring - ProCharged 502 / 800+ HP /
4L80E Automatic
This 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Pro Touring is a serious frame-off,
nut-and-bolt-built street machine finished in slick Cortez Silver
over a black bucket-seat interior. Built from a rust-free body with
rust-free floors, this Chevelle combines classic A-body muscle car
styling with massive forced-induction big-block power, upgraded
suspension, modern braking, Vintage heat and air conditioning, and
over $100,000 invested.
Powered by a fully reworked 502/502 GM crate big-block V8 now
making over 800 horsepower, this Chevelle is far beyond a typical
cruiser. The engine is force-fed by an intercooled DB1 ProCharger,
paired with a blow-through 950 carburetor and complete MSD ignition
system. Backing the power is a 4L80E automatic transmission, giving
the car a strong, proven drivetrain setup built to handle serious
horsepower.
Exterior
The body is finished in Cortez Silver, one of the most attractive
and timeless colors on a classic Chevrolet muscle car. The paint
has a slick, clean presentation that works perfectly with the
Chevelle's long hood, muscular quarter panels, chrome trim, and
aggressive pro-touring stance.
This car was treated to a complete frame-off nut-and-bolt
restoration, and the build started with a rust-free body and
floors. The exterior keeps a clean, classic look while the stance,
wheels, hood treatment, and performance hardware make it clear this
is not a stock Chevelle.
The black top, dark hood accents, polished wheels, and lowered
stance give this car a sinister street-machine look without taking
away from the clean Chevelle body lines.
Wheels & Stance
This Chevelle sits on staggered 18-inch front and 20-inch rear
billet wheels, giving it a modern pro-touring profile with the
right amount of attitude.
The suspension has been upgraded with Hotchkis adjustable rear
trailing arms and sway bars, helping control the power and sharpen
the car's road manners. The overall stance is low, wide, and
aggressive - exactly what you want from a high-horsepower pro
touring A-body.
Interior
Inside, the car features a clean black bucket-seat interior with a
factory-style layout and tasteful performance upgrades. The cabin
includes bucket seats, a floor shifter, AutoMeter gauges, an Alpine
stereo system, and Vintage heat and air conditioning.
A 6-point roll cage with removable bars** adds to the serious
street-car feel while still keeping the interior usable. The
removable bars help maintain practicality while giving the car the
performance-minded structure and look expected from a build of this
level.
The interior remains comfortable enough to enjoy on the street, but
every detail reminds you this Chevelle was built with real
horsepower in mind.
Engine & Performance
Under the hood is the centerpiece of the build: a fully reworked
502/502 GM crate engine now producing over 800 horsepower. The
engine is equipped with an intercooled DB1 ProCharger, a
blow-through 950 carburetor, and a complete MSD ignition
system.
This is a serious forced-induction big-block combination. The 502
cubic-inch foundation provides massive torque, while the ProCharger
adds the kind of boost and top-end pull that turns this Chevelle
into a true street monster.
A mandrel-bent 3-inch exhaust system gives the big-block the sound
and flow it deserves.
Drivetrain
Backing the ProCharged 502 is a 4L80E automatic transmission, one
of the most respected and durable automatic transmissions in the
muscle car world. Known for strength and reliability, the TH400 is
the right kind of transmission for a high-horsepower big-block
build like this.
Power is sent to a 12-bolt rear end with 3.73 gears, Positraction,
and Moser C-clip eliminator axles. That rear-end setup gives the
car the strength and gearing needed to handle serious power while
still keeping it street-friendly.
Suspension, Steering & Brakes
This Chevelle has been upgraded to support the power. It features
quick-ratio power steering, giving the car a more responsive feel
from behind the wheel. The Hotchkis adjustable rear trailing arms
and sway bars help tighten up the chassis and improve overall
handling.
Stopping power comes from power 4-wheel disc brakes, an important
upgrade on a car with this level of horsepower. Combined with the
upgraded steering and suspension, this Chevelle is built to be more
than just a straight-line bruiser.
The Drive
This is a serious street car with show-quality presence and brutal
performance potential. The ProCharged 502 delivers over 800
horsepower, the 4L80E automatic provides proven strength, and the
12-bolt rear with 3.73 gears helps put the power down.
At the same time, this Chevelle still has the comfort features that
make it enjoyable to drive. Vintage heat and air conditioning,
power steering, power 4-wheel disc brakes, an Alpine stereo, and a
clean black interior make it far more usable than most cars with
this kind of power.
Fully serviced and ready to enjoy, this 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Pro
Touring is the kind of build that looks incredible, drives with
confidence, and has enough power to demand respect every time you
put your foot down.
