"In the years that spanned the first four decades of Corvette
production, many esteemed American manufacturers departed from the
automotive landscape. Other brands were founded and ran the course
of their entire lifespans in that same period. So when Corvette
reached the 40 year milestone through both feast and famine,
Chevrolet saw cause to celebrate with a special order 40th
Anniversary Package." Americanmusclecarmuseum.com via Mecum

For consignment, a 1993 Chevrolet Corvette 40th Anniversary coupe
showing 53,535 actual miles. This car comes to you with a new
Opti-spark installed, the window sticker, and an extra set of
wheels.
Exterior
The Anniversary Edition was available in one color and it's all
here in its two stage glory, distinctive Ruby Red Metallic. Of the
6,749 anniversary editions produced however, this one stands out a
bit with personal touches that include a silver band on each side
of the rise in the hood with 5.7 Liter expressed, LT1 badges added
to the fenders, aerodynamic fillers on the sport mirrors, tail
light louvers, and larger and longer exhaust tips. And then there
are the wheels, saw blades painted glossy black with chartreuse
Corvette center caps, wrapped in 40 series ZR rated tires with a
mid 2021 date code. This one also has a body matched targa top.
Imperfections include numerous touched up chips on the hood and
other places as well as some inclusions, various scratches, a screw
protruding through the rocker panel, scuffs, rock chips along the
lower panel of the doors, and typical scrapes and some damage to
the chin spoiler.
Interior
Chevrolet furthers the individuality of the Anniversary Edition
with two different door panels, the driver's equipped with a black
armrest and switch panel against the Ruby Red base while the
passenger gets a monochromatic red configuration. We note some
minor wear on the driver's door but both are intact and fully
functional. Thick tuck and roll complement the deep bucket red
leather seats each with their own switch panels and embroidered
anniversary seal on the headrest. The steering wheel frames the
arching gauge package with switchgear on flanking pods and a push
button A/C panel, screen, and aftermarket Pioneer AM/FM/CD radio in
the center stack. Leather wraps the shifter handle and its boot on
a center console that holds the stat plate, a reminder of Corvette
heritage. 40th anniversary carpeted mats protect the red carpet
below and the cargo area also receives a logo on the mat, and all
present cleanly.
Drivetrain
The detailer in us wants to get out the soft brushes and Griot's
engine cleaner, but we'll leave that to you on this otherwise
impressive looking engine. It's a 5.7 liter LT1 V8 rated at 300
horsepower and mated here to a 4L60E 4-speed automatic
transmission. Power is route to the rear axle with 2.59 gears.
Undercarriage
Clean driver quality conditions prevail underneath where the dual
exhaust runs through original mufflers and find the atmosphere via
polished rectangle tips. Four wheel power disc brakes are the only
option for this powerful sports car and suspension includes single
fiberglass composite mono leaf spring with unequal length aluminum
control arms and stabilizer bar in front and fully independent 5
link system with fiberglass single leaf spring, aluminum
upper/lower trailing links and a strut tie rod assembly on
back.
Drive-Ability
Comfortable and quick, the Anniversary Editions provide all the fun
of a standard Corvette with a bit more flare in appearance. This
car performs as expected, with good power and road sticking
traction around turns, sure to provide smiles for miles. We note
the A/C and fog lights are not working but all other functions,
including the orange back lid center digital screen, work as
intended. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions
were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee
these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
The ruby metallic is now synonymous with Anniversary Edition
Corvettes and the personal touches here set this one apart from the
crowd. Considering Corvette recently celebrated its 70th
anniversary with a C8, this C4 still looks modern and fast some 30
years later and can get you into the classic and Corvette world
with a signature on the dotted line!
