1972 Cadillac Coupe DeVille
2-Owner California Car
1972 Cadillac Coupe DeVille for sale. As the owner of Left Coast Classics, this is my personal car I've owned for several years. This California car was delivered new in Cotillion White at the local dealer, Samuel Talmadge Babe Wood Cadillac in Santa Rosa to a local woman in Rohnert Park, from whom I purchased the car several years ago when she could no longer drive. At the time, it still wore her original blue-and-gold California personalized plates, which unfortunately had to be replaced with current issue plates.
My father owned one just like this, so there's a bit of personal connection here. I did swap the original license plate frames for a set from Neighbors Cadillac in Costa Mesa, though I'm happy to include the originals if the next owner prefers.
When I acquired the car, it had been spending more time parked in her garage than driven. Since then, I've gone through the car system by system and brought it back to proper working order including ice-cold factory air conditioning. It still retains its original, working in-dash 8-track stereo, which I've left in place, while adding a discreet under-dash Bluetooth unit for streaming music and hands-free calls. There's also a period-style PA system installed, which is as entertaining as it sounds.
The original 472ci V8 starts easily, doesn't smoke, runs smooth and quietly, and delivers the kind of effortless power these cars are known for. The transmission shifts cleanly through all gears, and the braking and suspension feel tight and well-sorted. Over my roughly 10,000 miles of ownership, I've addressed the mechanical needs and made this a very reliable driver that I trust to drive any distance.
The interior is original and presents well for its age, with factory black leather upholstery, original carpet, door panels, dash, and a nice headliner. It's gauges and switches and lighting are all in working order with exception of the window washer though the wipers do work. The clock was also rebuilt and keeps great time. Its an honest, well-preserved cabin that hasn't been taken apart or redone. Currently the rear windows are not operational, I believe the tracks need to be cleaned and possibly one of the motors needs to be replaced. We disconnected them.
The exterior still wears its original paint which still has a shine. It shows some age with a few dents and bruises, and the vinyl top has finally given up the ghost. That said, the body is solid throughout, with no rust issues and no evidence of filler or patchwork.
I've invested significantly to get this car mechanically sorted and dependable, something you can get in and drive with confidence. I own a number of cars, and this one has been a favorite, but I'm in the process of downsizing as I look toward retirement.
Its ready for the next owner whether that means taking it to the next level cosmetically or simply enjoying it exactly as it sits. Happy to answer any questions, call or text is fine, 707-332-8331.
