Survivor Classic Car Services Chicago is proud to present this
clean 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix Model J. Under the hood is a
replacement 400 cubic inch Pontiac V8 sourced from a Catalina
(engine code YC) with 1967 061 heads. The entire engine was gone
through, including having been stripped, magnafluxed, machined,
balanced, and is set up to run cleanly to 6200 rpms. A set of .030"
over Speed Pro forged pistons bring the compression ratio to
10.5:1. A Lunati cam gives it the classic muscle car "lope" that
you expect from a hot rod. The cast iron powerplant breathes in
through a Holley 650 cfm Brawler carb and out through a set of
Holley Flowtech headers and a 2.5" Flow Master American Thunder
exhaust system. Power is sent rearward through a Hughes Performance
2500 rpm stall converter and into a TH400 trans with a Hughes
MC34-1 transmisison build. Putting power to the ground is a 12-bolt
posi rear axle packed by JD Performance with 3.55 gears. UMI
tubular rear control arms keep the BG Goodrich Radial TA tires
planted.
This clean Grand Prix has had a healthy injection of horsepower and
still has plenty of style. With an underside as clean as the top
and a driveline with just about 1,200 miles since having been
built, this Pontiac is a recipe for a good time!
