For Sale: 1971 Plymouth Duster in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

INTRODUCTION: Beauty and a beast! Few muscle cars capture the raw attitude and street presence quite like this one. Painted of the most desired colors from the muscle car era, the exterior speaks for itself. It's powered by a reliable Mopar Performance 360 Magnum crate engine that produces 380 horsepower. And of course the four-speed manual is a blast to throw around. This is the kind of car that turns heads and delivers a memorable driving experience every time you slide behind the wheel!

EXTERIOR: The exterior is absolutely stunning! The body is clean, straight, and fits beautifully with no signs of rust or damage. The color is called "In Violet Metallic" which is the exact same as "Plum Crazy Purple". The paint itself has excellent depth and sparkle. The metallic is laid out evenly, and the clear coat is polished to a smooth, glossy finish. It's fully dressed with 340 side stripes, the strobe stripe running across the dual scoop hood, and a rear Go-Wing spoiler that completes its performance look. The vinyl top appears brand new, the windshield has been replaced, and the moldings are all in excellent shape. The bumpers have been rechromed, the grille presents very well, and the dual chrome mirrors, door handles, and gas cap all look fresh. Out back, the Duster 340 decals adorn the towel panel like a cherry on top of an ice cream sundae. New weatherstrips were installed, and it sits with a picture perfect aggressive stance. It's rolling on 15-inch rally wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires with extra meat in the rear for that ideal look.

INTERIOR: The muscle car attitude continues inside! Grab the Hurst 4-speed shifter with one hand and the Tuff Grip steering wheel with the other, you instantly know this Duster means business. The interior has been very nicely restored throughout. The carpet looks fresh and is protected by Duster embroidered floor mats. The seats were not only reupholstered but also recushioned, giving them a comfortable, firm feel. The door panels and armrests are in excellent condition. The dash pad has been replaced, the metal trim has a smooth finish, and the instrument panel is clean and well detailed. The Am radio has actually been rebuilt with FM internals and sounds great from the 6x9 speakers in back. It also features a Sport Comp tachometer mounted on the cowl with a shift light on the column, along with oil pressure and temperature gauges neatly mounted below the dash. The headliner has been replaced, and overall the interior is exceptionally tidy and clean. Even the glove box liner has been replaced, showing the attention to detail throughout this car.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: These Mopar Performance crate engines are known for their turn key reliability and abundant horsepower. This particular 360 cubic inch V8 generates a more than adequate 380 horsepower and 410 ft lbs of torque. It includes a roller cam, double roller timing set, swirl port heads, M1 intake, cast aluminum valve covers and an electronic ignition. It has been finished off with the recommended 750 Holley carb and a set of Hooker headers. The squirters and horns are hooked up plus the battery is properly secured. Some upgrades include a nice big aluminum radiator and Mopar electronic ignition. The underside of the hood, fenderwells, and firewall are all neatly painted slick and glossy just like the exterior.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The underside of the trunk lid and inside the jamb are both painted to the same quality as the exterior. The weatherstrip was replaced and a reproduction jack sticker was added. Inside is a vinyl mat to protect the solid and rust free body colored painted panels.

UNDERSIDE: It has a very clean, honest appearance. The steering, suspension, and brake systems have all been gone through, inspected, and are functioning properly. It's upgraded with KYB gas shocks along with welded-in frame connectors running front to back, helping reduce body twist and adding rigidity- especially important with a 4-speed. The fuel tank has been replaced, and it features a great sounding custom dual exhaust system with a crossover pipe and Flowmaster mufflers that give it a deep muscle car tone. Looking up at the engine, everything is clean and tidy and there's a heavy duty scatter shield, rebuilt 4-speed trans and a dual friction clutch. Out back is the desirable 8 3/4 rear end equipped with 3.55 Sure Grip gears, it was completely rebuilt. The floors appear to be very solid and still retain their factory undercoating. The underside has also been lightly detailed with a dusting of black paint, giving it a clean presentation.

SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and our reputation. Every vehicle goes through our service department where it is inspected, test driven, and we address the essentials before offering it for sale.

CONCLUSION: From the color to the aggressive stance to its powerful drivetrain, this Duster will sweep you off your feet. Whether you're looking for a show worthy cruiser or a weekend street machine, she was made to impress whether sitting in your garage or mashing the gas pedal on the open road!
