Cruisin Classics is proud to present to you a real gem from the
70's that you rarely ever see on the road these days - a 1979 Ford
Pinto. Ford produced over 3 million Pintos from 1971 to 1980 before
they replaced it in their line-up with the Escort. This sure isn't
just any Pinto though, this one has only 6,559 actual miles, the
original build sheet, original paint, original interior, and it's a
4-speed manual! If you're a fan of well-preserved cars from the
'70's, this is sure to put a smile on your face. This Pinto comes
to us wearing it's original coat of light blue paint and it still
looks great for being 47 years old. There is no rust, no dings or
scrapes, and only a few small rock chips - pretty impressive! The
front end features "FORD" lettering across the hood lip, a grey
eggcrate grille, rectangular headlamps, and a chrome bumper with
black guards. Viewed from the side, there's bright windshield trim,
drip rail molding, window trim, drivers mirror, and door handles as
well as chrome and black body side-molding spears. The steel wheels
are covered with OEM hubcaps in very good condition and they're
wrapped in newer Maxxis MA1 13" thin white wall tires. Around back
is a slanted rear window with bright trim, a decklid with "FORD"
and "Pinto" badging, and another chrome bumper with guards.
Under the hood you'll find the original 2.3litre 140ci inline
4-cylinder engine topped with a blue valve cover. There's also a
2-barrel carburetor and a cast exhaust manifold that leads back to
a single exhaust. Steering is manual (but easy) and so are the
front disc and rear drum brakes. The engine is mated to a factory
4-speed manual transmission that makes this little car a blast to
drive. The engine bay itself is very clean and bone-stock.
Swing open the driver's door to find a two-tone blue interior that
makes you feel like you've stepped back in time. The light blue
vinyl door panels still look great and they offer crank windows.
The rear windows on these Pintos are stationary and do not open.
The textured blue vinyl seats are all in excellent condition, with
buckets up front and bucket bottoms with a bench back in the rear.
Between the front buckets on the transmission tunnel you'll find
the emergency brake and a shifter for the 4-speed with a black boot
and black pattern knob. Ahead of the driver is a 2-spoke OEM
steering wheel with a working horn on a stationary column. The blue
dash ahead is crack-free and it houses a black rectangular gauge
bezel. The gauge cluster consists of an 85mph speedometer, a gas
gauge, and a series of warning lights. There are controls on the
dash for the working 2-speed wipers, lights, working heater and
fan, and rear defogger lever underneath to the left. In the center
of the dash is the original Ford AM push-button radio that plays
through a speaker above. The dash offers both a glovebox and an
open slot under the radio for storing small items. Overhead is a
tight blue felt headliner and underfoot is blue carpet in good
condition (light fading from time and sunlight) with black rubber
mats. Around back in the black carpeted trunk is a miniature spare
and a factory-style jack. This Pinto also comes with an original
owners manual, limited warranty booklet, tire warranty booklet,
seat belt instructions, and build sheet - all in the original
dealer envelope and Ford bag.
Whether you're a collector or just a 70's enthusiast, you're going
to love this Pinto time-machine! Finding one of these cars with
such low mileage and in this condition is like spotting a unicorn!
It may have been an economy commuter car back in it's day, but
it'll get attention at any car show, cruise-in, or gathering you
take it to! Don't let this chance pass you by, you may never find a
survivor Pinto like this one again! Give our friendly staff a call
today.
