1947 Lincoln Continental. A two door Lincoln in burgundy paint and
chrome detailing. Beneath the hood lies a smooth-running V12 engine
of 292 cubic inches paired with a three-speed manual transmission
with overdrive. The chrome, including the headlight surrounds,
bumperettes, hood ornament, and grill, appears well maintained. The
paint retains a shiny luster with only minor blemishes. The rear
fender skirts and rock guards are intact. The tires are wide
whitewall bias-ply with Lincoln hubcaps and beauty rings, the tires
are aging. The hydraulic power windows on the front doors do go
upward and downward yet are slightly touchy and prone to leaks.
Turn signals and wipers are inop. The battery is older and benefits
from trickle charging, and the vehicle runs on the original style
6-volt electrical system. Inside, the interior is exceptional,
reminiscent of LeBaron Bonney styles with a fabric and leather
finish suggesting a restoration or meticulous maintenance. Door
panels and push-button releases are in good shape, and the
dashboard incorporates highly polished chrome and bright work. The
AM radio is functional after warm up. The gauges show normal
readings for speed, fuel, oil pressure, and engine temperature
within an ideal range. The three-on-the-tree manual transmission
and braking performance is as expected. While the suspension and
ride quality remain good, the aged tires can cause a shake. To
start, turn key left, pull out on key mount, then push start
button. Easy to start, smooth running, comfortable and an elegant
eye catching car on the road.
