INTRODUCTION: There's a big difference between a vehicle restored
for resale and one restored for personal passion, and this truck is
a perfect example. It was a one owner truck for most of its life,
and the family commissioned a full body-off-frame restoration for
their father. Sadly, he passed away before truly enjoying it. The
truck was later sold to the second owner, who claims he went on to
earn a first place award with it at the F-100 Supernationals.
EXTERIOR: In my opinion, this is one of the best looking trucks of
the era! The '78 Ford short box has masculine yet refined styling,
and this one is absolutely killer. It's been restored to high show
quality standards with a phenomenal body free of rust, damage, or
dents. The beautiful two tone paint is laid out like glass with a
deep, glossy finish. The chrome and trim have been replaced, the
glass is clear, and the weatherstrips are all new. Even the jambs
are finished as slick as the exterior. It's sitting proudly on a
set of 15-inch Torque Thrust wheels wrapped in fat BFGoodrich
tires, giving it the perfect stance and attitude.
INTERIOR: It is fresh, upgraded, and inviting. The moment you poke
your head inside, you'll smell the rich leather upholstery. It
features a custom leather wrapped seat with a fold down center
armrest cushion, along with new seat belts including retractable
shoulder belts. There's fresh carpet on the floor, an upholstered
headliner overhead, and replaced door panels. The entire dash area
is very clean, and being a Ranger model, it includes the attractive
woodgrain trim. The metal surfaces are painted the same slick red
as the exterior. An upgraded stereo is connected to speakers
mounted in the door panels, and it's all finished off with a very
deluxe wood rim steering wheel featuring polished aluminum
spokes.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The engine compartment is nothing short of
highly detailed show quality. Power comes from a strong running 351
with some added horsepower, topped with an aluminum intake and big
dual feed Holley carburetor. An MSD ignition system provides the
spark, while a set of coated headers lets it breathe easy. It's
dressed up with Ford Racing valve covers, matching air cleaner, and
plug wire holders. It also features factory air conditioning, power
steering, and power brakes. Every component looks either new or
properly restored, the battery is correctly secured, the squirters
are hooked up and the original jack has even been restored and
mounted properly. The metal surfaces are painted slick throughout,
making this one extremely impressive engine bay.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Inside the bed is just as impressive as the rest
of the truck. It's clean, solid, dry metal throughout with a
smooth, glossy red finish that matches the exterior beautifully.
The tailgate opens and closes properly, the mechanism functions
exactly as it should.
UNDERSIDE: This F100 received a body off the frame restoration, and
every component underneath has been rebuilt or replaced and looks
detailed. The frame was properly prepped and painted a smooth semi
gloss finish. The entire steering and suspension system has been
completely redone, giving it a tight, confident feel. It features a
really nice dual exhaust system with a crossover pipe and polished
stainless MagnaFlow mufflers, providing a deep, refined tone. The
brake system has been fully redone with disc brakes up front and
drums in back, and the e-brake assembly is properly hooked up. The
fuel system has been replaced for reliable performance. Looking up
at the motor, it is spotless- right down to a Motorcraft oil
filter. The C4 automatic transmission is equally clean, functions
properly, and a rebuilt driveshaft connects to a restored rear end
with 2.75 cruising gears. Under the cab is solid, clean metal
painted in a satin black finish, while the underside of the bed is
painted body color in a smooth, glossy red.
SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and reputation. Therefore, we
built a 2 million dollar, 10,000 square ft service center, and
hired a team of technicians to service the essentials on every car
we sell.
CONCLUSION: Not only is this truck restored to magnificent
condition, it's also an absolute looker. I would proudly park it in
any collection of collector cars, but honestly, I'd be looking for
every excuse to take it out and enjoy it on a nice day.
