Zoom Classic Cars is pleased to present this 1925 Ford Model T
Roadster. Recent Custom "Gow Job" build by renowned Custom Hot Rod
builder "Father Ray" of NH. Few automobiles capture the rebellious
spirit and handcrafted ingenuity of early American hot rodding
quite like a traditional "gow job." Long before billet street rods
and catalog-built customs, young mechanics and speed enthusiasts
were stripping down aging Model T and Model A Fords to create
lightweight, homebuilt speed machines designed for dirt tracks, dry
lakes, and backroad racing. The term "gow job" emerged in the 1920s
and 1930s as slang for these primitive hot rods - crude, loud,
fast, and wildly creative machines built from whatever parts were
available. Today, authentic gow jobs are regarded as some of the
earliest and purest forms of American hot rod culture. Offered here
is an extraordinary interpretation of that tradition - a one-of-one
custom built 1925 Ford Model T Roadster created by renowned New
Hampshire hot rod craftsman "Father Ray." Constructed over a
painstaking 3-4 year period as Ray's personal build, this
remarkable machine blends traditional gow job attitude with
exceptional metal craftsmanship and thoughtfully integrated modern
drivability upgrades. Unlike many period-inspired rods that
sacrifice usability for appearance, this car was engineered to be
fully functional, reliable, and road-ready while maintaining the
raw personality and visual drama of an authentic early hot rod. At
the foundation is a heavily modified Ford Model A Chassis featuring
extensive fabrication throughout. The frame has been expertly
pinched both front and rear with a Z'd rear crossmember, flat front
crossmember, and a rear section bobbed approximately 12 inches for
an aggressive, compact stance. Traditional Model A chassis and
suspension components were retained and carefully modified to fit
the custom frame configuration, preserving the spirit and
mechanical feel of an early Ford-based racer. The bodywork showcases
Father Ray's exceptional eye for detail and proportion. The steel
body features a beautifully crafted Bugatti-inspired firewall,
while all original wood structure has been completely replaced with
custom-fabricated steel integrated subrails for added rigidity and
longevity. The cowl has been widened to improve foot room and
comfort without disrupting the car's vintage profile. Additional
custom touches include a handmade four-piece hood with GM-inspired
vent doors, a chopped and leaned windshield, and a distinctive and
rare Wippet grille shell and radiator assembly with custom lower
panel treatment that gives the car an unmistakable personality.
Inside, the cockpit perfectly balances vintage style with subtle
modern convenience. A fully custom dashboard incorporates a
glovebox and cleverly hidden phone charger, while a raised custom
seat platform improves interior space and driving ergonomics.
Particularly notable is the ingenious reversed Ford Model T
Steering Wheel adapted to a custom Model A steering box - one of
many handcrafted details that set this build apart from ordinary
traditional rods. Power comes from a traditionally styled
four-cylinder fitted with a desirable Burns downdraft intake, Burns
valve cover, and new Stromberg 97 carburetor, delivering
period-correct appearance with enhanced drivability and
performance. Modern reliability upgrades include a 12-volt charging
system, FS electronic ignition, mini alternator, and all-new wiring
throughout. Vintage lighting has been discreetly converted with
modern internals and integrated turn signals, allowing for safer
road use while preserving the car's authentic pre-war
appearance. The result is an exceptional handcrafted gow job that
successfully captures the spirit of America's earliest hot rods
while benefiting from the vision, engineering, and artistry of a
highly respected traditional builder. Equal parts rolling
sculpture, historical tribute, and fully usable vintage hot rod,
Father Ray's personal 1925 Model T Roadster represents a rare
opportunity to acquire a truly distinctive piece of handcrafted hot
rod culture. Car is stored in NH with clean title in the owner's
name. Please call Jeff if you have any questions or would like to
schedule an appointment to view the vehicle. Thanks for Looking.
