Now this is a Cool 'Shoebox' Chevy. We know this one well as we
literally built it from nothing but a shell and frame. Started off
with a shell (firewall back) with doors sitting on a frame of a
well preserved Missouri resident chassis. This was to be a project
build by two cousins celebrating their love of cars and of course
their friendship. Let me make it clear that these guys were already
a bit 'long in the teeth' in years and life experiences. Both well
into retirement age and with time in their hands. Unfortunately
precious time is not still and does expire as it did for one of
them. The other, a very good and close friend of mine. He asked of
me to help him complete their vision of getting the project
finished and on the road. I puffed my chest out with the cries of a
"Challenge!" For sure I would not let my friend down and will do
him proud. That's where my story with Project 'Hal-Ken' began. Late
Summer of 2012 through end of 2014. The 'less than
'Half-a-Shoebox'' was sent out for a full media/soda blast to clean
off anything that didn't originally belong to the Chevy. The
Chassis was then primed and coated with 'POR' rust preventive and
nearly bullet proof paint. The body was placed on a rotisserie and
sent out for paint (we chose to flip the darker color up and
lighter bottom). Dupont Plant and Offices was literally right up
the road from our shop so we went through their catalog and chose
Black Diamond and Sheer Silver Effect for paint bases and obviously
a healthy dose of clear on top. Now for that Chassis.. Moser
supplied the new made to order rear end with 3.73:1 gears with rear
drum brakes. We asked CPP Products to provide a Power Rack and
Pinion Steering System to accompany the 2" Dropped Spindles to
Front Disc Brakes. All complimented by all new suspension
components like new upper and lower A arms, all new bushings, Leaf
Springs in Rear, Lowering Coils on the front, KYB Shocks, and
more.. PST provided all suspension and body mounts and bushings. We
set out to build a car capable of driving today's highways and
crossing the country if ever wished to run Route 66 in its
entirety. The 'Skip White' (known builder from TN) offered a
Component Build from a 4-Bolt Main 350ci Gen II roller block.
Stroked to 383ci, compression of 10.5:1, NKB aluminum 200cc Heads
with Stainless Valves, and Roller Rockers, a Scat 9k Series Cast
Steel Crank and Rods, Probe Pistons, and Howards Cam. All in this
engine configuration Produces 470HP @ 6,100 RPM. Very well built
with the right stuff. We chose to mate this powerhouse to a TCI
built 4-Speed Automatic with HP Shift kit and 2800 stall Tq
Converter. Vintage Style Stewart Warner Gauges, Lokar Shifter, Air
Conditioning, Complete Interior manufactured as requested by
Ciadela Interiors. Wheels by Wheel Vintiques, Ididit Steering

we ran out of room to mention. We do have the book of receipts that
accompanies the Chevy when sold. ONLY 200 miles since built. We
