(Sorry Not for sale to the Purist. I have another one for you.)
The history: A very interesting Jaguar XKE. E.type series 1 coupe. Custom, dyno tuned Ford 302 V8. Previously owned by an elderly couple
since 1981 and was customized over the years to his wife’s likening so both could drive it, and be easily serviced by ANY mechanic anywhere.
He loved the original color from the factory of silver/blue metallic, with dark blue interior. She loved the regency red with light tan interior.
Soooo He bought the car she chose the spec, here we have a beautiful regency red with brand new light tan leather interior car on new tires,
fitted with a Dyno tuned Ford 302 V8 and automatic transmission that starts on the button, accelerates like a rocket very smoothly with the
V8 and smooth automatic trans, and sounds beautiful to over one hundred MPH (not 150.)
The car looks gorgeous drives well. (Not as pretty under the hood.) hence the low price.
It’s been said thousands of times that Mr. Ferrari described this XKE coupe as the most beautiful car in the world.
And it’s also been said that a picture says a thousand words. Many larger more detail pictures and some video available.
(Realistically I drive daily at 60-70 maybe occasionally 80, nobody in their right mind these days wants to do 150 in a 1966 car.
Unless it’s prepared for the track.)
Most all things work well on the car and they drove their baby for many years however never finished a few smaller things,
in that to fit the wider V8 Ford more powerful engine, he strengthened the bottom front frame and had the front and top A frame customized.
Also, thay never connected up the tach and speedo (I guess because of the automatic trans.)
they liked the look with not so much chrome on it as many do, so that’s how it stayed.
He passed on several years ago and now she has moved on back east to be with her family.
To me an overall view is that everybody has different ideas of life and their toys. One guy who has the most $s may want a Pebble Beach
concours perfect car and is willing to spend a $250k just restoring his car and then hardly drive it anywhere, and end up getting third in class in
the show cos there is always bigger fish with more dollars, another will want to lift it or drop it or paint it sky-blue pink with yellow dots.
A guy may want an original every nut and bolt car but if she wants a new kitchen and you can only afford one. ENJOY THE KITCHEN.) not divorce.
The new owner could either or.
1/ Enjoy owning this 1966 beautiful looking classic that’s appreciating in value yearly and drive making memories now today enjoying life.
At a lot less cost all-round.
2/ Do some mechanical and cosmetic work under the hood/bonnet, drop in a new crate motor and 5 speed, increase in price and value.
3/ Take it back to stock, find a rebuilt polished out original engine and 4 speed trans. And increase the value to $135,000. Or ? or ? or ?
Price $79k. Prefer an outright sale but will consider trades.
