2007 Ford Shelby GT500 For Sale
This 2007 Ford Shelby GT500 represents the first year of the modern
S197-generation GT500 and has been treated to a focused selection
of modifications that build on the car's already-formidable factory
hardware. Finished in white over a black leather interior, it pairs
the original SVT-developed supercharged powertrain with bolt-ons
and chassis touches aimed at street and show duty rather than track
use.
Powertrain remains the factory 5.4L supercharged V8 backed by the
original 6-speed manual transmission the classic Shelby GT500
combination that put the car on the map when Ford and Shelby
reintroduced the nameplate. A JLT cold air intake replaces the
restrictive factory airbox to free up airflow, and tuning-related
vitals are kept in plain sight by an AEM air/fuel ratio gauge
mounted on the A-pillar and a boost gauge integrated into the dash.
The combination is a sensible foundation for a tuned GT500: the
supercharger and manual gearbox do the heavy lifting, with the
gauges giving the driver direct insight into what the engine is
doing.
Stance and presentation are where this car steps furthest from
stock. The factory suspension has been replaced with an airbag
setup, allowing the ride height to be dropped for show or raised
for daily-driver clearance, and the look is finished with a set of
19-inch aftermarket wheels in place of the factory 18s. Inside, the
cabin retains its black leather seating and the optional Shaker 500
audio system, which was the upgraded factory stereo offered in the
GT500 and remains a desirable original-equipment touch.
The 2007 GT500 marked Ford's return to the Shelby badge in modern
form 500 horsepower and 480 lb-ft from the factory, an iron-block
supercharged 5.4, and a Tremec six-speed sending power to the rear
wheels. This example builds on that platform with the kind of
restrained, well-chosen modifications that suit a street-driven or
weekend show-duty GT500 rather than a stripped-back race car.
