In 1949 Chrysler celebrated its 25th Anniversary with a completely redesigned line-up. The New Yorker was the flagship of the series, offered in several body styles including this commanding two-door sedan. This particular example is finished in its original Mist Blue paint that has aged into a heavy, authentic patina. It retains its original 1949 steel body panels, massive chrome bumpers and the distinct egg-crate grille that defined post-war luxury. The heart of this cruiser is an inline 8-cylinder engine that was thoroughly serviced and repainted within the last 1,000 miles. At the same time the engine was rebuilt it also received a new gas tank, fuel pump, sending unit and all new fuel lines. The engine was fit with a set of custom-built headers dumping into dual side exhausts that look almost as cool as they sound. Power is delivered through its original rebuilt Fluid Drive 4-speed manual transmission that shifts perfectly. The interior is completely original and has help up incredibly well, especially considering its age. The patinaed exterior is nicely set off by a set of painted steel rims with chrome hubcaps wrapped in newer radial tires.
