The 1971 Cadillac Eldorado is a longer, lower, and wider personal
luxury car that marked the return of the convertible to the lineup.
This model was the first Cadillac convertible since 1966, with only
6,800 produced that year. Standard equipment included power
steering, power front disc brakes, and an automatic transmission.
As a top-tier luxury vehicle of its era, it is now a highly
collectible classic.
This 1971 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible is finished in Blue with a
dark blue leather interior with a coordinating white convertible
top and a blue vinyl convertible boot. This front wheel drive
Cadillac is powered by the legendary five hundred cubic inch V8
motor mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission.
Based on the paint code (11) as indicated on the trim tag this
Cadillac left the factory in Cotillion White paint with a blue
convertible top. Although there are no signs of the previous color
the blue paint is showing wear from use and age as would be
expected from a 55-year-old vehicle.
The leather on the seats is in good condition, still supple with no
excessive wear or tears. The vinyl power convertible top is fully
operable with only one small split.
The body of the car appears free of any heavy rust bubbling or
corrosion with a solid understructure showing the typical light
scaling.
Although a good running Eldorado we have identified some
deficiencies:
• Leaking exhaust at manifold,
• Exhaust "rattling" due to contact with rear frame,
• Power windows work from drivers controls only,
• No radio in dash, original non-working radio provided,
• Passenger sideview mirror dash control is inoperable,
• Convertible top middle support needs alignment,
• 2" tear in convertible top on the passenger side,
• Light dry rot on tires
• The horn is not working
This 1971 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible is not a perfect car but a
very solid entry into the classic car market. When this now
55-year-old car originally hit the showroom floor it was the
epitome of American luxury.
