Every classic car enthusiast has their favorite but many have
argued that the best looking Ford ever produced came in 1940. With
their rounded fenders and unique pointed nose incorporated a more
streamlined yet luxurious modern look. With WWII right around the
corner they are often considered the pinnacle of pre-war car design
before production eventually would be halted due to the war
efforts. Although intended as family cars these also had a unique
history with early moonshiners due to their speed and large cargo
capacity. This neat '40 is the 2 Door Sedan body style and is a
nice cruiser with more modern street rod components being hidden
under a subtle stock looking exterior. Paint/body is in good shape
and the Gloss Black paint is a perfect color for these cars. It is
the Standard model so has the vertical multi piece grill that is
painted to match. All of the original style trim and bumpers have a
nice shine and it has swan neck adjustable mirrors on each side.
The iconic tear drop headlights have nice chrome bezels and it also
has the bumper mounted fog lights and rear "Chevron" taillights.
The glass is all good throughout and it has the 2 piece front
windshield with windshield wipers. It rides on Vintique steel
wheels that are painted Red and fitted with V8 hubcaps and beauty
rings. The car has a very classy look with no over the top
indicators from the outside that it isn't stock.
However, that is not the case because under the hood is a 350ci V8
motor and mechanically it has all been redone. It has been fitted
with polished finned valve covers, an Edelbrock 4 barrel
carburetor, Edelbrock intake, chrome alternator, chrome AC
compressor, filled oil pan, and chrome air cleaner so it is all
show ready. It is kept running cool with an aftermarket aluminum
radiator combined with electric fans. It sounds good through
ceramic coated manifolds into a new dual exhaust system. Combined
with the motor is a Turbo 350 automatic transmission that transfers
power back to the 9 inch Ford rear end. Power disc brakes have been
added under all four corners as well as front/rear sway bars. It
has a lowered front spring and dropped front axle which is all from
Pete & Jakes. It has been set up to be a nice cruiser and drives
great!
The interior of the car is done in a tan color and is the original
style cloth. It has a split bench up front and full bench in rear
so is very roomy and can get your whole family out to the show. The
door panels have been kept very clean with only the chrome door
handles and window cranks. The dash has been kept very stock with
its original gauges, knobs, and switches but the Vintage AC
controls have been mounted below the dash along with adjustable
vents and aftermarket temperature and oil pressure gauges. In the
trunk you will find the battery has been relocated in a vintage
Jack Daniels wood box.
This is one cool classic that has a lot going for it. It combines a
very cool stock appearance with a modern drivetrain so it is ready
to hit the street and show off!
It is being offered up at the very reasonable price of
$29,500.00!
