ConditioningLED lighting updatesLand-Rovers are known for their
mechanical resilience in the harshest conditions, and this
300Tdi-powered unit is one of the main reasons why. So much so that
when the modernized TD5 diesel came out - despite all of its
advancements - British Special Forces asked the Ministry of Defense
to mandate that Land Rover to keep pumping out these 2.5L
four-cylinder diesels for several more years, into 2006 even,
because they understood that the 300Tdi was a brute. Derived from
decades of development in Land Rover diesels, the 300Tdi was
polished, but still all-mechanical, no computer or other nonsense
to go wrong. So long as that motor spins, the injection pump
squeezes fuel into the motor... as simple as that.Naturally, a
five-speed manual sits behind it, the venerable R380 transmission.
It shifts like a Lee-Endfield bolt-action chambers, with a smooth
but solid action between gears, and it's also free of any
electronics to go wrong.Apocalypse-proof Defender 90?
Absolutely. This particular unit comes to us from the French
countryside, Puymirol to be exact, and it is a great survivor type
of truck, only averaging around 5,000 miles per year since it was
first registered in March of 1998. The original paint, Coniston
Green (637) and Chawton White (603) two-tone, wears a few scars but
is otherwise in excellent condition for someone who wants to go out
and enjoy their Defender without tip-toing around a 5-digit paint
job.Inside, the interior is all-original and in great shape. With
factory air, a rare option in Defenders, you'll have year-round
comfort. It's also a highly utilitarian SUV too, with the rear
folding benches setup for four passengers under the safari windows
while up front there's two buckets and a center console.Recently,
this Defender 90 went through about $6,500 in maintenance since
importing to get it ready for years of enjoyment; including
refreshed brakes (pads, calipers, rotors); fresh fluids in the
motor, drivetrain, and axels; the glow plug harness was replaced
for easy starts; and various leaks and issues with the hood and
windshield hinges to ensure that this Defenders is prepared for
whatever you throw at it. Contact us to review the service and
history records.Features and Options:235/75R16 Michelin Tires16'
