This 1976 International Scout II is a cool, clean, and pretty
original Scout that spent its life in California. The last owner
owned this Scout for 32+ years. He bought this Scout in 1994 from a
Dismantler with no engine or transmission. (Because he bought it
from a Dismantler this vehicle does have a Salvage Title.) At that
time he put an engine and transmission in the Scout and he enjoyed
it with no problems until 2022 when the engine got tired and he
ended up putting a 392 V8 in it after it was rebuilt (have
receipt). Once the engine was done the transmission gave up and so
he had the transmission rebuilt as well (have receipt). From around
2022-2024 went through this Scout with his friend to make it a
reliable vehicle so he could use it as a hunting rig with his best
friend. We have around $22,000 in recent receipts and even more
receipts dating back to 1994. Unfortunately his friend passed away
and he decided to sell because he didn't want to use it without his
hunting partner.
The body is very clean snd original. It is a very solid original
Scout. The Terracotta paint appears to be mostly original and it
cleaned up nicely and looks great. There is obviously going to be
some patina on it because of the age of the vehicle. The bumpers
and body side moldings are original and still nice. The previous
owner installed fender flares when he was going through everything
and they give it a cool look. The original hard top is solid and
still in great condition. The underside is really clean and the
body mounts are all solid. We found no rust issues with this
Scout.
The interior is very original. The original seats were recovered at
some point years ago and look great. The dash had some cracking so
he installed a cover over it. The dash bezel, door panels, and
floor mat are original. The mat is showing its age but it is all
there. The headlights, taillights, brakelights, and turn signals
are all working. The gauges all work. The horn, windshield wipers,
and heat all work.
Mechanically this Scout is excellent and it runs and drives great!
The engine is the recently rebuilt International 392 6.4L V8 that
runs strong with no issues or red flags that we found. This engine
is a huge upgrade in power compared to the 345 V8 it would have
come with. It has a mild cam, dual exhaust, HEI ignition, aluminum
radiator with mechanical fan and an electrical fan for backup. New
distributor, new waterpump, new power steering pump, Holley Carb,
new starter, and more. The transmission is the 727 Automatic that
shifts great and was rebuilt as stated earlier. It is mated to the
Dana 20 transfer case and the 4WD works like it should. The rear
axle is a Dana 44 with 3,73 gears. The front axle is also a Dana 44
with 3.73 gears. It has Power front disc brakes. In the last 5,000
miles it had a new brake booster installed, new front brake pads,
new calipers, new rotors, and new brake hose lines. The rear brakes
were also completely gone through. It has a 2 Inch lift with new
springs, new bushings, and Rancho Shocks. They upgraded the
steering shaft at that time. This is all sitting on a newer set of
black steel wheels with 31 Inch All Terrain tires.
We drive what we sell so that we can give you a first hand and
accurate report on how the vehicle runs and drives. Our pictures
are never touched up or photoshopped. What you see is an accurate
representation of the vehicle. We take consistent pictures and show
you everything so you can get a true representation of the
vehicle.
