1963 Cadillac Coupe de Ville - Rebuilt 390 V8 | Bare-Metal Benton
Blue Respray | Arizona Car
This 1963 Coupe de Ville spent its entire life in the dry climate
of Arizona - sold new in Tucson and never left the Southwest.
Sixty-plus years of desert storage. What you're looking at is a
solid, honest car that has been properly sorted and is ready to
drive.
The Exterior
The body was taken to bare metal and resprayed in its original
factory Benton Blue - a deep, elegant color that suits the long,
finned profile of the last great tailfin Cadillac perfectly. The
finish presents well with no reported significant blemishes. All
window rubbers, door seals, and trunk seal have been replaced.
Taillight and tail fin lenses are new. Coker whitewall radial tires
on the stock steel wheels complete the look.
The Powertrain
The original 390 cubic inch V8 - rated at 325 horsepower when new -
has been comprehensively rebuilt. Work includes a block hone, new
bearings, rings, and seals, micro-polished crankshaft, replaced oil
pump gears, new camshaft and valvetrain components, updated timing
set, rebuilt carburetor, and a fully refreshed ignition system.
Water pump, fuel pump, and alternator are all new. Belts and hoses
replaced. It fires right up and runs strong with no reported
starting or performance issues.
Backing the engine is the Hydra-Matic Jetway four-speed automatic -
Cadillac's silky smooth transmission of the era - freshly serviced
with new filter and seals. Engine and transmission mounts replaced.
Heater core replaced.
The Brakes
Fully refreshed power-assisted drum brake system. Master cylinder,
wheel cylinders, shoes, and hoses all replaced.
Why This Car
1963 was the final year of Cadillac's iconic tailfins before they
were dramatically downsized for 1964 - making this one of the most
visually striking production cars of the postwar American era. The
Coupe de Ville body style combines the drama of the long roofline
with hardtop elegance and an interior designed for two people to
ride in serious comfort. This isn't a trailer queen - it's a
sorted, reliable driver that will turn heads at every cruise night
and car show you take it to.
