This appealing 911 S Targa, chassis 9111310162, was delivered on 1
December 1970, with its original owner taking European delivery and
driving the car in Germany before its importation to the United
States, supported by copies of the original importation
documents.
According to a copy of its Porsche-issued Certificate of
Authenticity, the Targa left the factory finished in Silver
Metallic (8010) over Black leather and was well optioned with a
Blaupunkt Radio "Frankfurt," factory air conditioning, and tinted
glass. The CoA further confirms that the matching-numbers 2.2-liter
flat-six, serial number 6310383, remains in place-the Bosch
mechanically fuel-injected engine factory-rated at 180 horsepower
and paired with a five-speed 901 transaxle in the characteristic
dogleg pattern.
The car remained with its original owner until 2004, reportedly
stored from 1986 onward, accumulating some 49,500 miles over that
span. In 2005, during early stewardship of the second owner, the
car received a high-quality repaint in its original Silver
Metallic, with the Black leather upholstery re-dyed at the same
time. The factory air conditioning, a rare factory option for the
period, was recharged with R134a refrigerant while retaining its
original R12-style fittings.
Now showing 52,123 miles at cataloging, this matching-numbers 911 S
Targa is a well-documented and highly usable "longhood" 911,
combining an attractive factory specification with long-term
original ownership and extensive supporting records.
