The 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 represents the pinnacle of American
muscle, and this exceptional example takes it a step further with
its rare and highly sought-after Double R-Code pedigree. Backed by
a professional restoration with just 800 miles since completion,
this Mach 1 delivers both true cobra jet authenticity and
performance in equal measure.
Under the hood lies the heart of the beast - a rare,
numbers-matching 428 CI Cobra Jet V8 equipped with Ram Air,
factory-designated as a Double R-Code. Built at the San Jose,
California plant, this # Matching powerplant is paired to its
original, numbers-matching (PGB-AF1) C6 automatic transmission,
complete with the correct cast iron tailshaft and R servo. Power is
sent to the pavement through the original 3.50 Traction-Lok rear
differential, ensuring this Mach 1 performs just as impressively as
it presents. its important to note the original engine,
transmission, and rear end tags are present.
Finished in striking Candyapple Red, the exterior is complemented
by the iconic blacked-out hood treatment, giving it an unmistakable
road presence. The stance is further enhanced by custom-painted
American Racing Torque Thrust wheels wrapped in fresh BFGoodrich
Radial T/A tires, blending classic styling with modern
drivability.
Inside, the cabin has been professionally reupholstered in
high-back black bucket seats, offering a clean and period-correct
feel. The driver is greeted by a woodgrain steering wheel framing a
120-mph speedometer, an 8,000-rpm tachometer, and a fuel-level
gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 19,025 miles, with
approximately 800 miles added under current ownership since
completion of the restoration. A retro sounds radio was added with
retro sounds dash and door speaker package to enhance the music
experience with AM/FM/Bluetooth capabilities!
Mechanically, this Mach 1 has benefited from a comprehensive
rejuvenation during our care. Recent service includes a rebuilt
carburetor, master cylinder replacement, resealed intake manifold,
rebuilt and resealed water pump, thermostat, fresh valve cover
gaskets, transmission pan reseal, fuel sending unit replacement,
plugs, and all new fluids. This ensures confidence behind the wheel
and we do have service paperwork to go along with it!
