For Sale: 1935 Ford Deluxe in Saint Louis, Missouri

Vehicle Description

Ford announced their 1935 models, claiming "Greater Beauty, Greater Comfort, and Greater Safety," which few Ford enthusiasts are likely to refute. This was the V8 line's first major refresh since its introduction, marking Ford's arrival into the streamline era with completely new styling and better refinement. The new Fords were undoubtedly beautiful, with a more upright, V-shaped grille, more integrated fenders and a smoother overall appearance.
The chassis configuration remained virtually the same, though the front leaf spring was moved forward to accommodate a larger and more comfortable cabin. Ford dropped the optional four-cylinder engine held over from the Model A as it offered little advantage over the powerful and refined V8. Bringing comfort, performance and style to the masses, Ford sold over 820,000 units in 1935, and production of the V8 engine surpassed the 2-million mark - handily beating chief rival Chevrolet in the sales charts.
Our featured 1935 Ford Deluxe 3-Window coupe is a charming example of this highly desirable body style, with a gorgeous, well-detailed older restoration. Like so many Fords of the era, the '35 Ford - especially in 3-Window Coupe guise - was hugely popular with hot rodders, a great many went under the knife through the years. Without discounting the importance of early hot rods, restored cars like this are important to reflect the purity and beauty of the original design.
This car benefits from an extremely well-maintained restoration, appealingly finished in dark blue accented with red wheels, and red pinstripes. Dual chrome horns, chrome radiator trim, and chrome windscreen surround denote this as a Deluxe model, and it is nicely accessorized with a painted metal spare wheel cover, bumper overriders, and a front bumper bar. Inside, the cabin is trimmed to factory original standards using period correct taupe fabric upholstery and a broadcloth headliner. This car also features a banjo steering wheel, rear window roller shade, and a very cool factory radio with an overhead-mounted single speaker.
Ford's venerable flathead V8 engine is presented here in its standard form, originally rated at 85 horsepower from 221 cubic inches of displacement. The engine is presented in the appropriate shade of green and topped with a single Stromberg carburetor. It shows evidence of use, but is well detailed overall.
Whether you're new to the world of pre-war classic cars or a seasoned enthusiast and collector, the 1935 Ford V8 heaps on the charm. These cars are truly delightful to drive, and their elegant styling belies the humble origins. Wonderfully restored to authentic standards and finished in attractive colors, this fine example of a 1935 Ford will undoubtedly bring many miles of easygoing motoring joy to its next caretaker.
