Cruisin Classics is pleased to present to you a time capsule from
1984 in the form of a Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. This
"Aero-Bird" is a stunning representation of the second year of the
ninth generation Thunderbirds and it sports a mere 24,757 actual
miles on the odometer! Not only that, but it also comes with a
Deluxe Marti Report that shows it is a 1 of 1 car - very cool! This
T-bird is dressed in what we believe is its original paint - Oxford
White (9L) - with faded painted pinstripes that appear dark gold in
color (though we suspect that they may have been burgundy when
new). The paint still has a nice shine and it's in very good driver
quality condition overall. Up front is a bright eggcrate grille
with a Thunderbird logo flanked by quad rectangular headlights
recessed in black buckets. Below, on the urethane bumper cover is a
black and chrome body molding that wraps around and encircles the
whole car. Set into the lower front fascia are a set of Marchal fog
lamps with covers. Looking down the sides of the car you'll see
black dual side mirrors, black door handles, and black window trim
all contrasting the white paint. Both fenders proudly display "EFI
Turbo" badging, letting everyone know that this is no average
T-Bird. The C-pillars both have Thunderbird Logo badges that add to
the look. On the roof is a tinted pop-up sunroof that is also
removable. Around back you'll find Thunderbird Logos on the clear
taillights and "Turbo Coupe" and "Thunderbird" badges on the
decklid. The finishing touch is a very nice set of factory 14"
aluminum wheels all wrapped in Michelin TRX tires.
Under the hood is a bone-stock engine bay that's home to a
turbocharged 2.3 litre (140ci) 4-cylinder engine with fuel
injection and Ford's EEC-IV electronic engine control system. This
four cylinder was pretty quick for 1984, putting out 145 hp and 180
lb/ft of torque. Atop the engine is a black valve cover with "Ford
Fuel Injection Turbo" on it. A look around reveals power steering,
power front disc and rear drum brakes, factory air conditioning,
and a replacement Ford radiator. The underhood courtesy light still
works and the buck tag is still on the radiator support. The peppy
4-cylinder is mated up to a Borg-Warner T-5 5-speed manual
overdrive transmission that sends power to the rear via a "Traction
Lok" limited-slip rear differential with 3.45:1 gears. This
Thunderbird was factory-equipped with a high altitude emission
system, which makes sense as it was originally sold by O'Meara Ford
in Northglenn Colorado (5,300 ft above sea level).
Open the drivers door and step back in time to a Ford showroom in
1984! The Canyon Red cloth interior is in nearly pristine condition
and it's completely stock. Both the underdash and overhead courtesy
lights pop right on when the door opens. The door panels are
composed of red padded vinyl and carpet and they have power locks.
The front bucket and rear bench seats are dressed in red cloth
fabric and they are in like-new condition. The driver's seat offers
6-way power adjustability while the passengers seat is manually
operated. Between the front buckets is a black center console with
an armrest/storage box that contains a courtesy light, a button to
pop the gas fill door, and a cassette tape from Ford that promotes
the audio system with various musical genres. Also on the console
are controls for the power drivers seat, power side mirrors, and
power windows as well as a shifter with a stitched knob for the
manual transmission. Ahead of the driver is a two-spoke
leather-wrapped black steering wheel with finger-touch cruise
controls on a tilt column. A stalk on the column controls the
working intermittent wipers. The wheel frames a simplistic gauge
cluster with an '80's-style grid pattern background that hosts an
8K tachometer with turbo and overboost lights, a fuel gauge, and an
85mph speedometer. The upper dash is black, while the lower section
is padded red vinyl. Under the dash to the drivers right is a
switch for the fog lamps and to the left on the dash is the on/off
Autolamp Delay System. Starting at the top of the center dash and
working down, there's a digital clock (with date & time), HVAC
controls with cold A/C and hot heat, a factory digital
AM/FM/Cassette stereo (plays through two dash speakers and two on
the rear package tray), a lighter, and a switch for the power
antenna (inop.). Ahead of the passenger is a an "EFI Turbo" dash
badge and a glovebox with working courtesy light and trunk popper.
Overhead is a tight felt headliner and the aforementioned sunroof
and underfoot is clean red factory carpet with matching carpeted
floormats. Back in the trunk there's a working courtesy light,
black carpet, an SVE Box with the original radiator in it, two shop
manuals (one for the engine and one for the body, chassis, and
electrical), an indoor car cover, a couple of trophies, 3 cans of
R12 refrigerant, a felt dash cover, a factory "Turbo Coupe
Instruction Manual", a vinyl sunroof storage bag, a front license
plate bracket, a factory spare & jack, and a framed Deluxe Marti
Report.

80's ride, you're going to want to take a serious look at this
incredibly well-preserved '84 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe! Clean
